SCR2.0 06/07 or SCR 2.0 Spring - whats the differn

Hi all,
I have pretty much decided to go for an SCR 2.0

I have found a 06/07 version in my size for œ385
The latest Spring 07 Version is œ525

Having looked at the specs of the two the differences I can see are the Spring model has a Selle Royal Viper Seat as opposed to a San Marco Provip r
The Spring uses TruVativ Touro 30/42/52 cranks as opposed to FSA 30/42/52
Spring Wellgo road pedals instead of Steel with resin body pedals
and the Spring uses Michelin Dynamic 700x25mm tyres instead of Kenda 700x26mm

The question is are those upgrades and if so are they worth spending an extra œ150 ? The one other thing is that the 06/07 is from an online retailer whereas the Spring 07 model would be from my LBS. Money is tight with me at the moment as I have 2 young kids but equally I want the best option for the money.

    No - is the short answer.

    The saddle you may want to change anyway as either of them may or may not be comfy to your particular taste - the crankset, again neither of them are anything outstanding and probably of similar value. the Pedals you may want to change to clipless anyway. The tyres - well yes the michelin are worth more than the kenda's - but only a few quid - certainly not œ150.

    and even if you didn't change anything you won't be missing out on anything

    if you really really want to spend more - buy the cheaper SCR and a new set of wheels such as Mavic aksiums (œ99) or some shimano 105's (œ130ish) which WILL make a big difference to the bike.

    I've just bought an SCR2.0 too. I ordered the discounted older model, but after ordering the retailer had run out of stock and I ended up with a Spring '07 model for only œ20 more. I would have been happy with either though, there is very little difference in spec, certainly not œ150 worth. I'd go for the cheaper option and use the money you have saved for a decent pair of pedals and whatever else you need.

    œ385 for an SCR 2 is definitely a bargain - but only if the bike fits. Have you already tried the newer model at the LBS? If I had already tried it out in good faith, and it fitted, I'd order the older version now without a problem. If I hadn't tried it at the LBS, then that would be a moral dilemma for me, as I would need to try it before I bought, but by now I'd have no intention of actually buying from them. It's up to each person, though.
