My Gloves Hum

They hum so much I have to lock them in the bathroom just so I can get some sleep.
They're top of the line Campag gloves with Pittards leather palms. I've tried (as the label suggests) washing them at 30 deg. They still hum, but a bit less so. Today I went out for a ride and the minging things hum again...and black die seems to be running from then all over my hands.
Is there such a cure for such pongy mitts?

wash them in disinfectant

chuck them in a empty ice cream tub with a couple of spoonfuls of bicarbonate of soda, give it a good shake and leave overnight
and then wash them
they didn't just start smelling though did they? its been getting bad for a while....
Gloves need washing too
