    Good choice.
    Many people here say that you can also use the 10 speed version with a 9 speed systemn. This might widen your choice.

    Shimano 105 triple on Ebay:

    Note: It ends at 11:00pm tonight!

    Also, if you are prepared to bide your time and keep looking, there are often bargains to be had on Ebay from the USA. I managed to get the same as above for about œ42 including postage.

    Tiagra HT2 is only œ49.49 from Wiggle.

    Record 10 speed Triple runs well with 9 speed set up and can be got quite reasonably from Ribble/Parker etc.

    I was actually thinking of running a 9 speed chainset with an 8 speed chain ona an 8 speed cassette and because I found it difficult to get an 8 speed chainset I thought I would go for a 9 speed one. For me all of these hundreds of gears are a bit overkill. They are nice if you are into that sort of thing. 8 speed would do me and I could run it on 10 speed Ergo shifters. Otherwise I will just wait and buy a 10 speed set up another time. It feels like you are forced rail roaded into the 10 speed thing a tad. The world of fixed gears seems much more agreeable to me at the momment.
  • Parker International and GB Cycles selling old 10 sped record triples for œ80!!

    Any reason why I shouldn't buy one immediately!? Is a 111mmm B a problem? It would go on an Airbone Carpe Diem

    [apols for slightly hijacking thread[:I]}

    Did you get planning permission for that sense of humour bypass?

    Try
    http://www.bikeplus.co.uk/

    who have cracking deals on chainsets, they also have deals including the BB and front deraileur in the package for much cheapness.

    Used them myself, no complaints.
    Cheers

    Many thanks for all your help everyone. I am now going to decide what to do over the weekend. I do like the Ultra Torque after reading a bit about it.
