Let me know when you are out, there a few forum members that are based in Woodford, Loughton and Waltham Abbey. I know some good routes out to Matching Green, from there you can go as far as you like.

I would be up for a 40/50 mile run that day too. We could maybe meet somewhere heading up towards Ongar, then take a ride to White Roding via Toot Hill and the National Cycle Route via Moreton. On the way back we could go via Navestock. I go out with a club on Sunday's so some company for a Saturday morning ride would be good...

Hi,, I am away on the weekend of the 3/4th March, but will be up for future weekends. As to routes, well woodford2barbican has good ones, I also like to head out to Roydon via Epping Green, then from there out to the Hadhams, where I turn right towards Green Tye, cut across Sabridgeworth to Hatfield Heath, then back to Ongar via Matching Green. I then head for Navestock then onto Stapleford Abbots and back to Loughton.
I used this ride when training for the Etape, I think it is about 60 miles.
It would be great if we could get a ride up, as we have tried before, but it just never seems to happen. A friend of mine owns a bike shop in Buckhurst Hill and I mentioned to him about getting a ride going from there. Let me know what you all think.

saturday 3rd sounds good. currently nothing in the diary...

the out and back http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=295504 looks like a great ride for starters - no savage lengthy ones to start with, a loosener type thing. the more the merrier, could be great fun.

the fixed is awesome, and to be honest, it is so much easier than you think, and as a result, nicer. you don't ever end up wrestling with the pedal stroke, it's just one smooth movement, and you really get locked into the rhythm and cadence.

I would love to do the Felixstowe ride any weekend in the coming few, but due to wifely commitments I doubt that I will be able to.

I am not likely to get out at all over the next few weeks, if I get out this weekend it will be to set down a marker for on my own personal 10 mile TT course!

If the Felixstowe ride is going to get done, I think the liklehood is that I will have to take a day off during the week and do it.

Having said that, I might enter into some negotiations and see what I can come up with, at this stage I know that I will not be able to do it before March 24th - but if it is that far ahead I think I could convince some of my colleagues to join us as well.

It really is a ride to be done with an early start as my intended end point, http://www.ferryboatinn.com/ stops serving food at 1430. They do a mean fish and chips, and being a good Suffolk pub have Adnams on tap.

I will post the other route that I have for it, it will just be a list of villages, but I think it is a bit better than the earlier one I posted.

As I said in my previous post, my mate who owns the bike shop in Buckhurst Hill, is looking to start a regular ride on Saturday mornings, starting this week. His shop is called On line Bikes and it is on Albert Road opposite to the new Atrium apartments. If you know Buckhurst Hill station, then it is directly underneath it, on the other side of the tracks.
Starting at 9.30am, looking just to do a nice spin for a couple of hours, if anyone fancies this then let me know.

And suggest that you don't follow that route on the way out? Just because at 11 miles that roundabout is a bit nasty - although it may be safer in numbers.

A better way would be to go through Epping and then bear right through North Weald Bassett then go straight across the roundabout at Tylers Green and head up the country lanes round there.

On your loop back in you can come in via Moreton, Bobbingworth and Toot Hill and then up into Epping or Theydon Bois

It means you will miss out the A414 and a roundabout with exits onto Motorway and dual carriageway.

i'm happy to do 8-830 start.

is that the roundabout with the underpass and the cattle grid on the other side?
