L&B - Slow jaunt this weekend?
Hopefully, barring any disasters, I'll have my new steed made up on in time for this weekend. I think I need to do a bit of practicing on it and fancy a wee jaunt. Any takers and any suggestions (largely depending on the weather)?
P.S. Please bear in mind that I may be a little slower than normal on the uphills.

I should be up for somewhere. Wouldnt mind trying somewhere new.
Eg, Drumlanrig, Pitmedden, etc. Or other.
Saturday would be best for me.

I am almost definitely heading over to Kirroughtree on Saturday. I know I said I was going to start doing more natural stuff but want to nail the chute[:)]
I might be up for something on Sunday...I want to talk to you about something anyway Hamish so would be good to see you sometime soon

As much as I love Kirroughtree, I dont fancy getting eaten alive again.
Good luck with the chute, Dave. You doing the full route or just driving up to McMoab?

Nick - Not doing a 2 1/2 hr drive just to do the chute...or should I say - get to the top of the chute...look down it for 10 minutes then turn around[:I]. Going to do the full thing, looking forward to it although not so sure about the weather (and the midges). Thinking about doing it on my Merlin just for a wee change.
Saz and Derek - Thanks for that excellent advice, wish someone had told me that years ago....obviously that is what Derek must have been doing going down the Terrible Twins both times as he handled it so expertly[;)]...How is your wrist Derek, found out if its broken yet[}:)]???

Dave, I was being deadly serious about lots of front brake. The back brake does bugger-all on such a steep incline, apart from lock up the wheel and fishtail. [:0][;)]
Back at the hospital on Thursday, so fingers crossed. [B)][:I]

Nick - I want to get used to the Enduro so tight, undulating old school forest stuff isn't quite what I had in mind. I guess it'd get my legs working a bit more. I'd prefer Pitmedden to Drumlanrig if we were doing that, but I don't know the route quite so well there (it's not signposted).
Dave - I should be out to play on Sunday too. I need a crash course in fitness and heavier bike handling.
I'm up North for a few days so I may not be at a computer until Thurs pm/Fri so I'll be open to any suggestions then.

A ride in pitmedden would be good, as the weekend works on the bridge are now finished until september. And if Hamish really wants to get used to his bikes handling after that, then there's always Falkland....

What you thinking about for Sunday, I cant travel far due to being out all day Saturday at KT and going out on Monday night and Tuesday morning...got to spend some time with my kids...ho hum (oh yeah, and the wife[:I])?

Dave - mid morning on Sun at the Pentlands would work for me. Say 10.30 at Harlaw?
mc/Stu - I'd be up for whatever. Blairadam or Caberston sounds interesting - what's it like there? As for Falkland, well I will need a bravery/stupidity transplant and not just a bigger bike. I guess it'd be good practice for (refusing) the Les Gets hut drop...

Blairadam will be a wet hole at the moment, but it's quite similar to pitmedden.
Caberstone I'd imagine will be quite slippy, but will most likely be good fun. Got the old downhill track, and there's also the Rocky (ridge descent back towards Inners).
I'm sure there's more further east, just that I've never explored that far yet.

Disasters? You dont trust me! [;)]
Dirty great big bikes with questionable climbing abilities are best pushed(!) up big hills with tech descents. Blackwater Dam is about as tech as it gets. Inners DH tracks will give your suspension a workout but they have been done a lot recently.
That youtube clip does make it look doable. This one would be more like our attempts

A few weekends ago I was discussing the joys of lawnmower ownership and mowing itself, in particular directional stripes, with Stuart M. Since getting back from holiday a week ago it's been too darn wet to cut the lawn so it was pretty long - last night I finally got the chance I was waiting for:

I took a photo of mine after cutting it last week too! Not quite as impressive as yours, but I'll upload it later on if I remember. Maybe we should join the WhatLawnMower forum instead...0 -
