Oh I thought skyline cycles was below drop-off cafe, I get confused easily. Did anyone have a postcode for my Sat Nav?

I'm looking forward to going now as it sounds like you've had a fab time.

So what is the plan for Lakes, I could be tempted, I recommend Grizedale Campsite, loads of great riding and it is a fab campsite.

The trails were holding up really well, a little slippery on the roots an rocks but only to be expected, the rest of the trails are mostly in the trees so were damp hard pack with rocks rather than wet and muddy and still very fast [:D][:D][:D] superb, that was upto Sunday when we left, hope this helps [:)]

I think we're all confused all I can tell you is that the cafe at thingy ponds is called the Dropoff cafe there is a cycle shop underneath it, not got a scooby what it was called, [:I] On Sunday when we rode the Wall we started at our camp site and rode to the other main visitors centre where jah asked about the trailhead now that was called Skyline. So which postcode do you want [?]
The plans for the lakes are still being worked out but go something like this I think. Going early September, staying at Grizedale campsite. Good plan eh [;)] Come and sample mine and stevie j's, what was it m'lady K8to called it, that was it BASE humour, Hehe told you I was a big Kid [:D][:D]
    Hi K8to, How's the nail polish [?]
  • HI Guys,

Thanks for looking after me and my bike!(its shining away happily)
Been on a course the last couple of days and had people looking at me like I had scabies, bought the whole of boots and I'm still going crazy itching.
I still think you are all gentlemen , just a rare breed of gentlemen!
Trio I'll give you a call after I get back from the gym- bout 8.30 and give you the unedidted version!! I may be re thinking the whole tent thing and looking for a hotel.

Well I was'nt going to brag about being the best at something but I bet I have more bites than anyone, my legs are a right mess from sock line to shorts leg millions and I mean millions of red bite dots all over. Got some advice in Boots and bought some "Bite & Sting relief antihistamine cream seems to work I've stopped scratching [xx(]

    K8to
I could'nt change my forum name to Shrek it would give people too good an idea what I look like and spoil the surprise [:o)]

    Stevie/ jah
It looks like me and Rob are away from the 6th to the 22nd of September he's of one week I'm off the other, but may be able to fit a ride in when I'm in wales if you're interested [?][:D]

Midges what midges? seriously I can't find any bites, my top tip "Lifesytems Expedition 50" insect repellent sprayed into hands and applied to all exposed bits. Oh and get a barbie going and immerse yourself in the smoke.
Otherwise saw some guy with a head net on, looked like a usefull bit of kit.
Trio the post code for the Glencorrwg ponds camp site is SA13 3EA. Both bike centres are Skyline cycles. The guys at Glencorrwyg shop were a great help with a few machanical glitches.
K8to have you got the details for the sattlethwaite site?
So does it look like the weekend of the 1st and 2nd or the 29th and 30th?
Sidey when you are in wales we can probably meet up and show you the delights of Penmachno.

That's the link for the campsite at Grizedale. I can come if it's the last weekend in September. The first I'm still on holiday.

    Where was the phonecall k8to?

I,m o.k. with either the 1st & 2nd or 29th & 30th for the lakes I'll just go with the flow, but I do have the full go ahead now. We have struck a bargin [;)][:D]

M'lady could'nt ring you it was the butlers night off [:o)]
    K8to
whats all this unedited version, what the hell did I miss, Where was I or was it when I was washing the bikes [?][:I][:p][:D]
  • Sidey I think you should post a picture of your legs-[:0] I have never seen so many bites- Trio doesn't seem to grasp the seriousness of the Afan expedition- it might help to persuade her that the cafe rather than the BBq is a good idea!.
Jah you don't have English blood, you don't count, infact you may not even be human if you didn't get bitten! I am about to search some Bee keepers sites for full body armour!

K8to I would gladly take a picture of bitten legs but they are getting better so is very difficult to see the bites against the green skin ! [^]

I get it k8to but we'll have to cope. I've got better over the years and I need to practice for Scotland in the summer.

A lot of the trails are undercover from the trees except for the fire road and the north shore on the White trail BUT you gotta do that great fun [:D] besides getting wet makes the hot shower later so much nicer [;)]

I'm supposed to be out of action for the next 4 or 5 weeks. Although I'm now so board I've decided to chance my luck and go riding Saturday/Sun.

Any chance we could do Macc forest or Cannock Chase? I can't manage anything too extreme.

Afan shrugs off the rain pretty well. I'm going up this Sunday probably. I reckon an early morning blast round Penhydd will do me good.

Hope the weather bucks up for your trip to Afan, or at least your ground sheets waterproof or take some big plastic bags down to put down first [|)] K8to this time keep your rubber ground sheet inside your tent along with your shoes and socks [:I][:D]
  • HI Sidey, not sure how I'm going to manage putting my tent up!!TRIO!!

GF3 - Macc forest sounds like a nice idea have a great weekend all of you. I'm off to BOOTS for as much midge spray as they have got, gonna dig out the old DEET as well- where did i put that bee keepers outfit?!

I've dug out my DEET as well, although I've got all the other stuff that usually works but the rain might keep the midges away, or am I hoping for too much?

Yes gf3 I'm packed, including my emergency supplies http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lifeboat
