It should be a bolt on jobbie, unless you feel the hoses are way too long.
With my 1st set of Hydraulics (Hope Mono Mini's) I left the hoses at std length (I too had worries!) which helped me get a feel for what the brakes should 'feel' like.
Eventually I decided to shorten the hoses, I did the rear 1st, and a week or two later I did the front as I felt no power loss from the rear.
Reading the manual twice helped too! (before I even put the brakes on the bike [:O])

I recently swapped over to Avid Juicy 2007's and I just bolted and rode. I think i'll be changing the hose length soon though, now I have a feel for them.
It's all down to personal taste though, me, i just bolt and go!

Do you just zip tie the hoses to the frame?0

It depends on the frame bosses, some have special troughs with a slot under them for zip ties, others will have regular cable stop bosses (you can get adaptors for them to fit hoses), and some frames will have hydraulic hose guides anyway.
Or just zip tie the hoses on [;)]

Hey, off-one, I see you're from Sheffield, me too, where abouts?
Where is your local stomping ground? Mine is in the peaks, Hope, Edale, Stannage to name a few. Do you ride every weekend?
20 questions I know...... I'm a nosey bugger......
Cable ties?
Like Andy said, it depends if you frame had bosses for them or not, but generally you just zip them on and cut off any excess.
