Truvative Stylo BB question

Did a quick fettle of the On-One 456 after reading this months WMTB report on the Truvative Stylo - whaddya know notchy BB bearings. Just flippin' great, 100 years of Isle of Man TT road racing to celebrate and my beast gets sick...!
Now probably being under qualified to put air in the tyres, I need simple help - can I replace the complete BB with something more robust that will still take the seemingly fine Stylo crankset ? Or is a like-for-like swap my only option ?
Cheers

well it depends on what the crank bb interface is.
it should be ISIS but if after 2005 it could be a giga X pipe. i would take it to your LBS and get them to fix it.

Thanks for the advice, but I'd like to have a go myself - providing I'm not likely to damage me or the bike !
The interface is advised as GXP external bearing, 68mm shell. I don't have a problem with changing the thing out, more concerned about the fit of 'other & longer lasting'' manufactuers goodies onto the crank port facings and then the crank itself into the replacement.
No worries if all fails, our LBS is a sound bet.

ok so it is the GXP then it is important that the bb shell has been faced so the sides are parralel and they are perpendicular to the axel axis. as this promotes longer bearing life. and i would replace like with like as they normally last for a fair time.

I'm hoping that's why the non-drive-side bearing on my Pomp is knackered, whereas the drive-side looks and feels almost as new.
BTW: What tool do you use Nick?
I used the shimano HTII tool and it's made a bit of a mess of the cups.
Mind, I had to resort to the 'pouring a kettle of boiling water over the BB' trick to get them to budge.

Thanks again Nick.
I'm betting Brant at On-One did a proper facing job, but I'm loathed to replace like with like because the original kit hasn't lasted at all well - some 4 months infrequent use and both sides seem as bad as each other.
I'd like to replace the lot with an XT BB, but am concerned that the stylo crank won't fit.
Looking like it's the LBS for me then.
Cheers again for the advice.0 -
never asume anything. there are companies out there that do bearing/cup upgrades eg: http://www.enduroforkseals.com/id180.html

well the cups and bearings as it is unlikly that the LBS will have the tools to change the actuall bearings.
