The trail isn't too well marked, there are lots of 'hidded' trails in Wharney.

Best if you can find someone with local knowledge to show you around.

SingletrAction are the trailbuilders, have a look in their forum, see if anyone else is out riding.

Its not too bad, but you can get lost. It intertwines with the green route, and lots of hidden trails as above. And bits are HARD. This isn't the same sort of black you find at some trail centres. My Zaskars XC wheels lasted 10 mins last time.

I ended up going on the Langsett Circuit taken
from my trusty Dark Peak Book, Really enjoyed it some great
single track and some nice downhill bits, for a newbie
like me anyhow

For those interested in riding Wharncliffe, I'm taking a couple of friends up there this Sat. They've never been before. Batism of mud I think from all this great weather we're having.

DSLdude and chops you're welcome to join us.
Have a look at my map for directions and typical route.
There are quite a few pics of Wharney on my site (Photo album) of a few of the regulars who ride there.

The new XC/All mountain trail is great. Plenty of hidden trails, fast slow, muddy, knarly, Wharney has it all. You just have to know where abouts the trails are.

Let me know if you want to come along. Andy, you're more than welcome too.

60ft sheer drop if you take this too fast:

I managed most of it with a 60mm forked hardtail! But be prepared to dab. You can drop down on the TPT a the end, blast south and straight back onto the black route. Not to be missed this section.

Seriously though, there are some drops (sheer vertical) where you would need a parachute or wings.

Ok, took your map and marked on it! Its in red again though. It starts at the big circle, but to get there go to x and cut across the moor and through a little farm. First bit is pretty tame, but when you get to the yellow circle the rocks get bigger and bigger. Follow all to the end and drop down into the valley back to the TPT. Also to the woods on the left many old XC routes. Old NEMBA route somewhere.

There is another route to the start: from the carpark you cut straight onto the moorland and follow a long track round.
