Galpharm are a generic manufacturer I think, may be the same drug as you have used previously! Do you get it bad at night? Those ionisers can help.

dont think i get it at all at night. this might sound really stupid so i apologise in advance but im normally asleep so wouldnt know! late afternoon is normally the worst time, but sometimes on proper heavy days i can start off first thing and last all day.0

Lol. It used to keep me awake on hot nights where the window had to be open. Our garden like Kew, full of allsorts of polleny things!

-
I used to get it bad in my teens, but hardly anything now. Think its a certain tree that sets it off.

The injection option has been removed due to side effects and a court case in the states a couple years ago! they worked an absolute treat.......... try putting a little pit of vaseline under your nose which will open up your nasal airways a bit more!
ask your doc for a good anti-histamine that you can't simply get off the shelf in a chemist

i thought the idea of vaseline was to coat the nasal hairs, preventing the pollen attaching?0
-
Here's a good one: snort water and spit it out. My brother swears by it!

I have found a great site that sells downloadable "hayfever" audio books by some of the leading Authors in the field. I have recently discovered the benefits of listening to Audio books as I have a 2 hour drive to get to work each day!.
You can also get a 10% discount off your first purchase by using this special code when you check out - 322944.
Also, if you own a website you can become an affiliate and promote Audio Books that are relevant to your site and get 15% commission on every sale.
Here is the link directly to their http://www.listen-here.com/list.aspx?catID=144 category
Hope you find the site as useful as I have, if so post back your comments.
Cheers

Hi,
This has recently been very recently launched in the UK, its a prescription only medicine, so you'll have to ask your GP for it but early signs are good (its a next generation a/h so should be v differeent from Zirtek et al)

will try that, looks like the general opinion is that i should get off to the GP0
-
yep, but don't be fobbed off with another prescription for zirtek, clarityn etc..
i'm on telfast which is great, however this new one could be good for you, its a case of discussing it with your gp

Asda sell loratadine and also cetirizine dihydrochloride based hayfever tablets as a 7-pack (one week's worth) for about 83p (or some other stupidly low price). The loratadine ones are labeled "non-drowsy" wherease the cetirizine ones aren't. I've been taking the loratadine ones for three days and they are the only tablets that have ever worked for me (had hayfever for about 20 years, even Triludan never worked for me!).
The effect starts to wear off after about 8pm (tablet taken between 9am and 10:30am) but this will probably improve as time progresses. I'm sure if I backed this up with a nasal spray, I would be almost symptom free (nothing stops the muzzy-headed feeling which hayfever causes).0 -
just to be clear, loratadine is the active ingredient in Clarityn &
cetirizine dihydrochloride is the active in Zirtek

Just got the sniffles in the last few days, randomly bought Benydril(?) and brought the leaking nose and scratchy eyes under control rapidly as it said it would on the box, though first one knocked me out (might of been heavy previous night though!). Gonna try the local honey method next year, my brother seems to think it works and he suffers bad...0
-
just the clarify the injection option has not been removed it is frowned upon and not talked about they hate giving it but it works, it is the only hayfever cure so far, its called depo-medrone and comes in 40mg per ml vial, ive insisted on it the last two years and its like a miricle cure, the side effects on the list are huge (as with any drug) and you have to sign a disclaimer however for three months i have no hayfever symtoms as such every year, i also take the anti histamines along side it and im fine. the actual drug itself is a cortisone - you know the stuff sportsmen and women have injected into their knees atc only your getting a really low dosage in comparison. if your gonna try it you need to get to the docs early in the year - end of march april ish and renember it only lasts about 3 months so the earlier the weather is nice the earlier you need to take it yea? dont be frightened by the contra indications they list if you looked at the same list on most tablets youd never take them, for instance did you know that tamoxifen is carcenogenic?? and they give it to people with cancer funny huhhttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v341/ ... 1177606388

83p for a weeks supply? Think I need to get down to Asda. Unless I'm driving long distances, I usually just grin & bear it (I don't often get it really bad) due to the cost. There is no secret ingredient...0 -

how does vaseline open your nose up? do you mean vicks vaporub? if you use too much of that it will make you just as blocked up.
vaseline under the eyes helps catch the pollen a bit, but dont rub your eyes!

Try the honey approach, wash out each eye with a spoonful before going out.
