Cheltenham ride - July 1 + 8th (official beerfest)

Been a change of plans.

July 1st is going to be Leckhampton Hill and Cranham Singletrack. There are plenty DH tracks and enjoyable XC/AM type loops. About 2-3 hours worth of fun!

JULY 1st, 10:00, Daisybank Carpark

July 8th is going to be Cleeve Hill. Its an XC ride but there aren't loads of lung busting climbs on the route. Just 3 or 4 cracking descents that can be as fast/technical as you like. Should take about 3 hours to do.

JULY 8th, 12:00, Top of Rising Sun Lane, Southam

Pub stops are, of course, mandatory.

Darnit, can't do. I'm in better shape now too (:p). Anyway, would be interested to hear about Lecky, thinking of heading up there sometime in the summer. Also would be interesting in hearing about Cranham. Where abouts is it?

Cranham is over the back of Lecky hill, near Birdlip. Its some sweet, flowy singletrack and miles of it. A lot like the forest of dean.

I have been doing cranham loads lately!

Ride from my house in brockworth, up towards the roman villa and into the woods. Head up to the road between cranham and birdlip and over into cranham woods. Normally then head off to the top of coopers hill (cheese roll) and down through the fields and lanes back home.

Well a fair few people live in Chelt so it would probably be best to start in Cleeve. Do a loop, descend into Southam, ride to Lecky roadie stylie, have a bit of a gander around, then head to Cranham and back for the final leg. Finding a pub somewhere along the way.

Dave, bring the Patriot, you'll like it more in Cranham.

I was thinking the other way, because Cleeve has the long, not so technical descents that everyone can do and enjoy, whereas Lecky is short, sharp, and very techy descents (but does have the full Sandy Lane). Also, Cleeve takes us onto the wrong side of Cranham, and the signletrack just aint as good going uphill [;)]

Edit: Just actually read Doogie's post. His idea sounds good, through Chelt there are a couple of places we could stop off for food or drink, both of the alcoholic side, and regular.

Daisybank is about half a mile from the base of Leckhampton hill going up Leckyhampton Road, it's on the left. Follow a little road round a left, and it's near your right. Search for Tramway Cottage on Google Maps, that might help.

We could always do two rides, on both the 1st and the 8th.

Start point will be at the top of Rising Sun Lane by the big yellow box. Its the road going up next to the Rising Sun Hotel if you're unsure.

And I thought about Flapjack Fest, but I prefer cake tbh!
