Angles when filming dirt jumping?

Filming from a height?

Take loads of shots, then put together what the best ones are. I personally think you should build a zipline as said, fuck it your building everything else there.

haha yes thats true, i had planned for a cable cam thing eariler in year, never got round too it.... maybe its time.

Need more jumps first though....ohhh how about it going directly over a pack

I used to take photos from a tree right next to a jump. Nice shorts but the angle didn;t show off the gap too well. I like taking them so you can just about see the face of the take off, and quite low.

SO to make a cable cam (zipwire) Just 2 tall poles from 1 end of jump to the other. and a taught wire/cable gradually sloping downwards ye?

Like you said, covering the whole pack from start to finish on a zip line. Infront and above the rider with a wide angle lens so you can see how high they jump and the gap distance.

Tell ya what john, i keep going for a walk around spital, in the woods, near the train station. still to find the jumps. then again, i havent gone down your side of the train station much.

Yeh It was actually last summer I filmed it before my camera died, Have only just got the camera back with the tape from Jessops in the last few weeks so threw that together, Always room for improvement tho.

Just need to look at where your filming, Like has been said climbing trees can give new angles, Use the stuff around you, Imagine the sort of shots you want and just film away, Its when it gets to the editing you can sort through everything and add the good bits and leave out the crap that doesnt work.

Dont use the zoom too much, If you are using it be slow with laid back riding such as dirtjumps, Can be more aggresive filming say downhill with bikes flying/swerving through trees,

Just get out on your bikes and mess about.

thats some great looking filming , definately a summer vibe with the track that goes to it .
i know nowt of filming and jumping ... but i would have liked to have seen some slow mo bits in the best aerial shots you had in there.

as far as wire cams go ..... i drool every time i see that wade simmons shot from NWD 7

As has been said, nice vid John.

You'd need a helmet cam, but different positionings of helmet cams around the bike looks nice. Also put one rider in front and have a rider with helmet cam behind on the same jumps, or down the side of the jumps. Just experiment really.

Not a great fan of slowmo, Has to be done properly, Was trying to give it some sort of 'Live' feel to it, Slowmo didnt suit, May use some in rest of film im working on tho.

Especualy hated the downhill in Antigravity 2 where they overused the slowmo and BandW, Took any excitement out of it. Thats my opinion anyway.

I have a helmet cam, Just need to buy something to record it to as I sold my old DV cam with the AV inputs. Will also add some of that footage too.
