'Up' jumps.

We built a nice jump yesterday. not too high or massive gap but still.


Problem is, we'v tried making the jumps steeper/shallower etc, but we never get very high in the air, only about a foot off the lip. And mostly (through) the air about 6ft.


Can anyone suggest what to do, to make it launch UP aswell as across?

Sounds like your "squishing" the jumps, not popping off the lip, just rolling over it and clearing the jump. Soak up the transition on the take off, and extend your legs near the top. Takes time and practise to master. Would suggest doing ANY tricks for another few months until you have DJ mastered.

MAke the takeoff more of a smooth arc, More of a lip at the top as it seems to fade away to nowt,

More speed.

it looks like a fairly small gap. i would make the gap a little longer and smooth the arch of the take off a little.

try visiting other jump spots and look to see how they have made their jumps. note things like gaps, hight of the take off and transitions

Roll up to it, legs bent?
Ride up takeoff extend legs to push in the jump?
Pull off/up the lip?
Into air

Yeh, More to it than that tho, Takes practice and just how hard you pump depends on the jump and the speed etc, Just stuff you have to learn.

Try technique first, Then you may want to make the jump a bit bigger as you get the hang of it and more confident.

my technique is to just blast at the take off ignoring where the landing is and then smash into the ground allowing the bike to deal with the consequences.
