Bikeradar No More

So, the inevitable is happening.
Where is everyone going?
I am not sure. You have no chance.

It's been fun while it lasted.
If blazing finds a way to post race threads anywhere, I'll go wherever they are.

So long and thanks for all the fish.
Been on singletrackworld for years, roadie bikes get talked about quite often, but forum had an "upgrade" a few weeks ago and the lag on post updates is dire!

Damn - had a big celebration planned for my 5000th post.

On a serious note, is this the Forum or the entire website?

Forum only of you read the announcement

My browser goes directly to the road cycling forum. Just checked the home page and read it.
I guess we all knew this was the likely outcome.

Bugger.
If anyone has any suggestions for a new home….

The main website isn't worth reading for the most part.
Shame.

That's pretty sad - combined with my inability to watch live cycling, or soon any cycling easily, it's piling yet more on 😐️
The post said the forum was live from 07, I just looked out of interest, and I created my account a smidge over 19 years ago in 2006, so presumably that was the website as a whole, and then the forum came along later.
I don't personally think facebook pages/instagram replace the interaction type you experience on a forum - I suspect in a few years time they will be back in fashion, and make a re-appearance. I'm probably wrong though.
I will keep an eye on other recommended destinations.
There's still time, you just need to average 26.6 posts per day for the final 5 days.

I've had great help over the years on here so thanks to everyone for that.
Sad that it is no more but it's what they call progresss I believe.

Bought my first road bike back in 2007 off the bay of e - a yellow (some will be surprised by that) Felt F70, with carbon forks and seat stays.
I'm sure I have asked a million questions on here over the years, and generally received very helpful and useful responses.
Even when on occasion it has been nothing to do with bikes!
I probably have checked in here on average every other day, for something like the last ~18 years in all likelihood, going to be a bit weird to get used to it not being there anymore.

Thanks everyone most of all for being good company.
It will be strange not seeing what all these people I have got to know on here are thinking.
It's sad it has to end, I'll feel more lonely without you all. Might have to join a cycling club or something.

Oh that sucks :-( I've not posted much, but when I have I've always had helpful responses and just generally enjoyed the info and the 'bants' (god I hate that word). So thanks everyone, much appreciated (well with perhaps the odd exception!) If there is another place everyone is going I'd love to know about it. Does Veloriders still work?!

Gutted it's ending. Learnt a lot and helped others. It's a shame. Guessing spammers don't help things. Nice knowing you all.

Do not go gentle into that goodnight, rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Oh Blistering Billhooks, sir!
Thats a bit of a blow! And so soon. Less than a weeks notice. That sucks.
It's been great on here, even if it has been dying a death over the last 12 months.
Thanks all for the support and ribbing over the last 6 months of my cancer diagnosis and treatment. Certainly helped to lighten the load. Been great to get to know you all too.
We need to decamp en masse to a different platform. Happy to go where the rest of the Bike Radar FuGees go.
If you let me know I'll promise to leave my morning Alliterations behind! 😉
Sometimes. Maybe. Possibly.

Yup, not a lot of notice, so time is short.
That's why it's already being discussed here:

Yeah. I couldn't find the older thread. Happy for this one to be shut down to keep things simple.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

It's a huge shame and another blow to us UK cycling fans. The notice period is unfairly short - did Musk make the decision?
It's a hugely enlightening forum and has been great to be a part of.
I hope we can find a new home.

Not a surprise but sad all the same ..
This used to be my first port of call forum wise , but each update just seemed to make worse, which is why I stopped visiting on a regular bases.
These days CycleChat is my first port call followed by the CTC forum if I happen to be wearing socks with sandals that day.😀
Seriously if anyone is looking for another home, I can really recommend CycleChat .

Anyone who’s just lurking here and not realised - there’s a growing refugee camp on cycle chat now. Even managed to get a thread locked already because someone said a naughty word.
