First Friday Finally Finished Flying

Morning, woke early, not quite on UK time yet, overcast but dry. Coffee than adjust shower door which seems to have dropped whilst we were away. Also wash months of accumulated sale and mud off the car. Maybe clean bike for ride tomorrow. That's plenty for 1 day!

Morning. Nice over-sleep today as wifey has day off. Were hoping for a jolly jaunt but arse too sore still to sit in car for any length of time.

Stroll around the block. Descale coffee contraption. Sample coffee thereafter.

    Sometimes. Maybe. Possibly.

It would seem spring has been and gone and it’s Autumn without waiting for summer. Today will be climbing unless Mrs W has plans.

Decent day again, finally made time to go for a nice long walk in the afternoon sunshine. Not capable of much else today after an attempt yesterday with chainsaw to get firewood sorted. B@stard thing will only run intermittently, needs a service, so didn't get a lot cut, but a start on the woodpile at least.

Not much else on the achievement list.

    Morning,

Today is more relaxed now that the year end appraisal stuff is out the way so just mopping up assorted shyte that I'd been ignoring for a while. Not a bad forecast for the weekend so an exploratory bike ride might be on the cards.

The consensus among the local small engines servicers/users and particularly the guys who use chainsaws reckon that the E10 petrol (10% ethanol) has a very short shelf life and if you have any petrol driven garden machinery that may sit around for long periods, make sure you empty the petrol tank. 2 Stroke's despite the oil addition, are just as susceptible.

On the back of this, I do empty the tanks of the equipment that I only use periodically and so far, it seems to have had a positive effect.

On a simple technical point, agitate the mixture screw 45 degrees left and right from it's starting position. These screws are highly susceptible to the smallest of contamination.

Keep fuel, re-filling, funnels etc as clean as you can to avoid contamination - especially dust.

Yep, a chainsawing friend of mine who was a tree surgeon for a long time said to empty the tank as the 2stroke splits and essentials ferks it over.

Ran earlier if you can can such a pathetic hobble that. Walk the puppy to pet shop for some raw food later and then start to dismantle the bathroom.

E10 not widely available here AFAIK. I use plain ol' 91 octane for the garden tools stuff. Tried the fresh fuel mix and clean etc for the air filter, slightly better, but still intermittent. When it runs, it's fine, just clogs and dies too easy.

I usually run the motors dry when I've finished to clean out carb and tank, but don't always remember. Weirdly this thing appears to have two mixture screws, but might give them a tweak to see if that helps.

Afternoon peeps. No work friday. Went for a bimble on the old gravel bike with one of the daughters. Local trails and quite roads, managed to get her to do her longest ride ever. Even a crafty beer on the way back.

Too many bikes according to Mrs O.
