PTP 2025

Welcome to the 21st Annual PTP Competition

Opening Weekend is less than 2 weeks away! Time to warm up those PT engines.

Calendar changes for 2025

Now that 4/5 monuments (come on Lombardia, keep up) have a women's race on the same weekends as the men's race, I've added those to the calendar

How to Play

Playing along with PTP is extremely simple - you don't have to sign up or join anything other than the Bikeradar forums. If you're already a member here, that means you're already eligible to play.

A few days before each of the chosen races, a PTP thread will be started in the Pro Race forum. That thread will contain a selection of useful links - start lists, race maps, past winners and so on. All you have to do is consider who you think is likely to win and post their name in that thread. It's that simple. If the race in question is a stage-race, you also get to predict the daily stage winners.

Post your pick in the relevant PTP thread before the cut off. If you change your mind then please post as a new post rather than editing your old post.

As you play, your scores will be added up and the overall season rankings will be updated in this thread. The scorer's will do their best to ensure scores are accounted for accurately, but ultimate responsibility lies with each player to make sure their points are correct.

Scoring

Scores are already included in the following Google Sheets templates (use of templates not mandatory, but it can make life easier): One day racesStage races

Footnotes

Doping

Points are finalised once the race organisations publishes their results. No adjustments will be made if it later emerges that a rider has failed a drugs test or if a rider has wins retrospectively removed from their palmares.

Prediction Cut-off

Always the contentious one! The cut off is 12pm (noon) UK on the day of the race. This is strict so predictions at 12.01 won't be counted (exceptions made for split-stages, evening prologues etc. as described in each race's thread). No GC selections will be accepted once a stage race has begun.

Respond here if you are willing to contribute to the scoring, and which races you can/can't/would like to do.

I'm afraid I can't help out this year - so the Tour de France is up for grabs. I moved to a new role at work last year and then got promoted so haven't got the time.

    No Rich No Tour!

I’m definitely away for the last weekend of the Tour so probably best someone else does that. Also will be away for San Sebastián but should be able to help out with pretty much anything else.

I’m ok to do a couple of earlier in the season one day races to help out. Work commitments meant a bit of a struggle last year and only going to be worse this year.

The forum is closing, so PTP is probably dead.

I'm considering joining Reddit's Peloton Single Rider Fantasy League as it is similar, but their season has already started.

I guess PTP ends this weekend after PN and TA.

Thanks to all the scorers who have given their time to help PTP be successful, and to all the players who made it what it is.

Thanks to @dish_dash for running the shop for a long time, to @RichN95. for going above and beyond with the TDF, and to @blazing_saddles for putting together the race info in the spoiler threads.

For me, PTP has added a little extra spice when following bike races, whether that’s relief when the favourite finally makes his move, rooting for the underdog because I backed him, or the feeling of expertise when my inside info or extra research pays off (even if only 1 time out of 100).

    Thanks all!

    Well this is terrible news.

I’ve been disappointed at the struggles of British teams and races over the past couple of years, and this year I’ve been worried about how to actually watch the racing post-GCN. Now no forum or PTP riders to support whilst I’m watching. I guess my experience of watching cycling is going to fundamentally change.

Thanks to you all for your contributions over the years.

I'm considering doing this. It requires a reddit account, but is run through a website.

I know a few of the Cake Stop lot are moving over to Cycling Chat, not sure if they do anything on there or if anyone wants to migrate PTP to that forum and encourage a new audience? Thanks to everyone who has put so much time and effort into this and the race spoiler threads over the years.

I registered over at Cycle Chat as well. Maybe let's all first move over and then we can decide how and where we revive PTP or just chat about racing. 😊

I’ve joined up too. Looks like you need to have 5 posts checked by moderators before they got posted live or automatically - worth bearing in mind if you were planning on making a late PTP pick over there.

I'm going to play the one I posted above. I now have my ID for it. I like the way it forces you to not pick the favourite.

Thanks @red.rider for your efforts to score right to the very end and well played to those of you who were on course for a good season.

Hope to see some of you over at cycle chat
