Saturday. A Sumptuous Salad of Insanity

Morning.

Grey and dull. Appears dry.

Off to Sainsbury's in a mo. Wife off to look at a horse. No she's not buying it.

Probably a snooze. Maybe more model making and coffee.

Laters.

Sometimes. Maybe. Possibly.

    Morning All.

Dull and cool here. Off running shortly then finish detailing sickly child's old car and putting for sale on auto watsit site. Hopefully quick sale. Sickly child on road to recovery after being given suitable horse pills by quacks. Most surprising thing was he got through to the quack and had a F2F within 2hrs, gobsmacked. Have a nice day. Photonic is the OH off to maccys then see said horse. 🤭.

Longish drive to Cardrona, very dry mountainous scenery , 29c on the way. Stopped at Fairlie for a famous pie (mine was cheese and steak and OHs was creamy chicken, both excellent. Chilling now with no grandchild minding needs...

Decent pain free sleep in the hospital, just got woken twice by the nurse taking my blood pressure. Had a full English to perk me up. Now waiting for the physio and nurse to take me through the post op routine, then it's time to get out of town and chill at home.

Does your wife like looking at horses PN69?

No monkeying around for you Stevo.

    France TLW. It's closer.

Anyhoo, coffee in the sticks today. God knows when I will have the energy for a pedal. Before the lurgy, I had done more outside miles at this point than last year and so things were already looking better for 2025.

    Here we go again...

Must go try to upright a fir tree with a forklift.

Did you sleep OK after the Tramadol @Stevo_666 ? It tends to make me talk rubbish in my sleep.

@pinno A work colleague has moved so wifey is off to see new house. Said colleague also has a horse. We like horses but couldn't manage a whole one.

@tlw1 you'll get a lot more horse in France than Italy.

@pinno good luck with your Fir-kin tree. Don't injure yourself with the forklift!

Shopping shopped. Bought 2x cinnamon swirls for wifey and me. Went down a treat with a double espresso.

Slept fine PN, obviously wouldn't know if I was jabbering in my sleep last night. Tbh not sure if it was needed anyway, as pretty much pain free now.

If you concede on the country, just make sure it's a reasonable driving distance to the Alps as a condition...

    Afternoon folks,

Traditional slowish start was enjoyed, done a bit of pottering, still coughing and short of breath. That's probably one of the few ways I'm similar to Pinno. Wobbled to Lidl for some pastries and other supplies, that was remarkably tiring so I won't be wobbling to the old dear's shortly. Might go and get my ears lowered as that really needs to be done, my head may feel cold as a result.

    Glad you survived Stevo.

Italy is much better TLW, France is unfortunately big and in the way though. Get a place near Chamonix, then you can cross the border for decent food when the mood takes you.

Thanks V, just waiting for the local anaesthetic in the wound to wear off...

I hope he's got a lot of cash burning a hole in his pocket if it's Chamonix. Had a look in a couple of estate agents' windows when we were there a couple of weeks ago and some of the properties make London look like a bargain. Also the Mont Blanc tunnel throught to Italy is now 50-odd Euros one way.

I have an ex wife because of her need to have to many horses. She looked after them better than the kids. Hence my disdain. Hope everyone's feeling better today.

F8ck France, it's full of french people.

Ours is in Italy, much nicer and not so many Frenchies about. They still live by mafia rules though, you cant empty a bin without someone wanting a slice.

But the upside is that there aren't any Frenchies nearby.

    And the cycling is nicer.

From my door, 116m around Lago Di Como and it's "almost" flat and 1e for a coffee if you know how to ask.

Hardly any speak English in my experience unless in the tourist hotspots.

    Evening

Got dragged in to York by Mrs W, did the park and ride. However the ride was along time coming as there seemed to be no buses.

It the busiest I’ve ever seen it, some streets it was like the crowd leaving a match. Ended with a tank top amongst other things, if I pull my ears out with it on I could get a job as Wallace’s stunt double.

Makes easier for thick bits that are entitled and think the rest of the world should speak English. Spent a summer working near livorno with Italian engineers, it was fun. Only person on a site of about 50 or so people spoke English and she was a very fit receptionist.
