    Morning all.

Strewth! No appointments today or tomorrow!! Not quite sure what to do with the day now. Total of 17 appointments this Jan. Must be a record.

Snoozing perchance. Maybe more airbrushing on my 1/12 scale Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Roadster. But 1st snooze then coffee.

    Laters.

    Morning

Wet and miserable here today. Even more miserable after finding that it will now cost £30 a month to watch the cycling in the UK.

Another day of bang and crashing as bathroom fitters continue with the work. Not sure if I can use the turbo as if they don’t turn the water off to other bathroom. Yorkshire water are saying they might today.

If you read the GCN thread you will see that VPN doesn’t always work apparently.

never once had an issue with sbs, some sites try to block on vpn providers' ip, but typically that can be evaded by switching egress node or using a different service

Last night was fun as they had a power cut at the local South East Water treatment works so a lot f the area had no running water for most of the evening. Finally managed to bag a shower at 10.30pm.

WFH today, bit wet and gloomy. Managed to get my treatment all authorised on BUPA ready for Friday.

    Evening folks,

Manflu got worse overnight so I bailed on work and came home. That was a long 2 hour drive, went straight to bed and snoozed through the rest of the day.

  • Get well soon all the "man" flu sufferers.

Overcast morning here might get out for a walk before the sun appears and it gets hot.

Got a call to have a pre op CT scan atthe local med centre earlier on, now done. Got to go for an MRSA swab tomorrow when im in town. I'm sure that this operation lark is more complicated than it used to be.

Good. Main thing is that the doc puts me back together properly on Friday.

MRSA swabs are quite usual before any skin cutting takes place. Prevents likelihood of infection getting into your body. It was the same in 2014 when I had my shoulder op.

Hope it all goes smoothly and listen to the docs for speedy recovery.

it's best to care when choosing which private hospital in the uk

they're not always equipped to cope with emergencies, such as sudden potentially lethal nastiness, they rely on the nhs for that, and the consultant may want to get away early on a friday to play golf

My experience of private healthcare is that the patients with the risk of complications get their surgery first. So if you are in reasonable health you get to go last and probably when the surgeon is wanting to get home for their tea.😉

I had my Hernia done in 2016 at a private BUPA hospital. The NHS farmed it out. The recovery room was nice, so was the meal after. The operating theatre and offices looked a bit grotty though. Very basic. If they had snicked a femoral artery I'd not have much hope.

Plus Stevo is having his on a Friday. Haha, good luck with that. Anything after 2.30 will be a cut 'n shut.

If you can have a private op done in an NHS hospital it's good for a couple of reasons. They have the A&E back up if needed and money goes back into the hospital trust.

Never mind the fact that if you're paying it's Sig cheaper. The old dear paid for her pacemaker rather than wait. Having it done in an NHS hospital was about £30k cheaper. That's only for a one night stay. The food better be a damned sight better for that.

Not used Bupa yet but used Nuffield who really looked after me, even though everything being paid for by nhs after they cocked up. Most of the consultants etc actually worked for nhs and did extra shifts in private sector for beer money.

They all work in the private sector and earn big bucks. That's why the waiting time on the NHS is so long, all their consultants are doing their private work.
