Junior men's was a good race

Yep. Feel a bit sorry for Oscar Amey, who was better than his 6th place suggests. He was in a medal position for much of the early part of the race, but mistakes (dick moves?) by other riders kept taking him out and he had to use loads of energy to get back

Wout looks to be carrying some timber. Also, having just switched on it looks like he got a bit bashed up. Battle for 3rd looks good.

After 5 laps Van Aert is in second, a mere 55" behind.

Is still going. Last weekend. And for me as I cancel my Discovery+ next Friday, moneygrubbingbastards.
Sint-Niklaas women's race is a good fight right to the end. Men's not so much, Alpecin's Vandeputte doing a MvdP. But lap 4 has a good water related side diversion 😊

I think the water related side diversion was the most interesting thing that happened in the men's race.

A hot air balloon was flying over the lake, lost height and ended up with the basket in the water, before the pilot regained control and lifted it clear. No idea if he meant to do it or not, but the tv director, and most of the spectators, were concentrating on it more than the race for a few minutes.

Only if you restrict yourself to the men's races. The women's races were consistently good to excellent.

Much better than last season IMHO, fewer races with FVE/MvdP just riding away from everyone else.
Plus some new riders getting their first big wins eg Niels Vandeputte and Marie Schreiber

People who think CX is competitive need to watch XC MTB.....in a different league, and not dominated by Belgium/Netherlands riders.
