I am looking for a new pair of shoes. Normally I wear Specialized but I am struggling to find what I want - SPD shoes suitable for touring and some walking. In effect an MTB shoe.
If I can find another make which suits then I can target local shops for trying them on before buying (from them) - local means a train journey and at least a morning in Edinburgh. The number of city centre shops is limited.
Is there another make which fits like Specialized?

A mail order Specialized?
I replaced my (very old) Spesh MTB shoes with some Shimano recently, they seem OK
In terms of fit...they're shoes, I'd always want to try before I buy
It's just a hill. Get over it.0 -
I have worn Specialised 44s, and personally find Scott 44s the closest in terms of fit, and a nice wide toe box.
Additionally I have worn 44 & 2/3rds Mavic, 44 Fizik, 44 Louis Garneau, 44 Northwave.Felt F70 05 (Turbo)
Marin Palisades Trail 91 and 06
Scott CR1 SL 12
Cannondale Synapse Adventure 15 & 16 Di2
Scott Foil 180 -

You made me remember the time when I didn't have any pair of Specialized. I wore regular sneakers, and they were OK for me. I guess I didn't know better then. Then I read about originals stan smith and bought a pair. Though I didn't expect it, those shoes turned out to be really comfortable for cycling. Anyway, a bit later, I got myself a pair of Spesh MTB shoes. Of course, they worked much better, but I'll never forget how surprised I was by the comfort of cycling wearing the stan smiths.-3
