Shimano 105 brake hoods

Having brought out replacement brake hoods for my 2015 Colnago, on removing the old ones, I see that the internal mouldings are completely different, despite the exterior shape looking spot on.

Is anyone clued up enough on exactly what I need to look for, please? The old ones are completely shagged, and, even worse, white (in theory, at least).

TIA

Is there some sort of part number on the inside of the old one?

Not that I could see... though it's all rather worn out, so there might have been something there.

I got all confident, as I bought some Tiagra hoods for the commuting bike, and I got them right first time. Serves me right.

I'll take these hoods back to Devon, as I think they might fit the 105 I've got on the 2013 Colnago build. These hoods are definitely a later design - the pesky one where the gear cables turn corners in two different planes, so fray and break in under 4000 miles. The earlier ones just turn one corner, so last longer.

I think your shifters are 5800 (11 speed) and the replacement hoods are for the 5700.

Thanks masjer. Yes, that makes perfect sense. Will see if I can source some from an EU supplier ;)

Right, got some to be delivered here from XXCycles, for £13.50 the pair. Thanks for the help. 🤞🤞

@masjer - all done, thanks. Perfect fit. Easy to put on, having left them sitting in the sun for 10 minutes, and spraying on a bit of GT85. It'll be nice not to have sticky, loose (white) hoods. Celebratory ride into the mountains tomorrow.

No problem, glad they fit. Nothing worse than stretched, gummy hoods.
