Cinelli vigorelli steel

I’m thinking of getting the vigorelli steel single/fixed speed it’s from sigma sports the problem I’ve got is I don’t want to ride it fixed I want to put a single speed on it now I’ve read that the wheels that come with it miche express that they have a double thread on the hub so it can take a freewheel sprocket. When asking sigma they said I’d have to buy a new back wheel because it only takes a fixed cog has anyone got one or knows if this is correct or will the stock wheel be ok to swap out for a freewheel cog thanks Pete

    Hi Pete,

There may be someone along to help soon.

Otherwise, I had a singlespeed some years back (hence the name) and I know there are some dedicated forums that may be able to provide more specialist help.

Just re-read the above, and it might be open to misinterpretation - I'm not referring to those sorts of dedicated forums offering specialist help.....

I think these wheels can run a freewheel cog, product info on most retail sites suggests this is the case too?

the info on eg Wiggle for that wheelset says it'll take a fixed sprocket or a freewheel

Or maybe not. Road CC review of the wheelset states: "with a choice between large flange, sealed double fixed or flip flop hubs"

So maybe the Sigma job has the former hub?

Regardless of what you have, you should be able to run a BMX freewheel on the fixed threads. Whether that will give you the right chainline or the gearing you want is another matter...
  • I’ve read a few different retailers that sell them and they all say the wheel can take both so I’m wondering if sigma have got it wrong you see the miche pistard rim is a specific track rim only takes fixed and there’s no brake track on it aswell so I wonder if they’ve got mixed up with that rim
