New bikes with "same specs" but huge price difference

I look at different bicycles with "same" specs.
Full Carbon, Ultegra 11sp, hydraulic disc brakes, endurance.
Why the hell are same-spec bikes, priced so differently?

Look at this:
Cube Attain GTC SL: 2199€
Cannondale Synapse: 3499€

The difference is even more dramatic if you consider this Cannondale Synapse is 105, whereas the Cube Attain is Ultegra.
Where is the catch?

Ok, im ignoring the details of the wheels, but still...hard to imagine wheels make a huge difference on the final price of these bicycles...

Where is the catch?😲🤔🧐

Option 1: All carbon is not equal.
Option 2: Same moulds and paying for the paint job and labels.

You need to find out which one is true in your examples.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

    Shop or lifestyle retailer?

    Shop's profit margin

    As above comments.
Plus, I've noticed fairly recently that many are now being sold with things aero bars, power meters, better wheels etc. All of which could/will be a factor to the price differences.

Buy the bike you love and gives you a semi ;)

    Sometimes. Maybe. Possibly.

    Thanks for the answers.

But I still don't get it.
The 2 bikes I mentioned, a Cube and a Cannondale.

Would you really say Cube does not have the same name / hype / reputation / trendiness / whatever that justify it being so much cheaper than Cannondale?
Yes, Cannondale is trendy, but so is Cube.

    Lifestyle retailer? Shop profit margin,?
Wrong. These are official prices recommended by the manufacturer.

Groupset, Powermeter, aereobar...? Wrong. As I wrote: bikes with "same" spec. In fact, ironically, the dearer one has an inferior groupset. Neither has any extra, Powermeter, aereobar...

I didn't really look at the wheels, but hey I struggle to imagine they explain it.
Like a semi-detached house for 400k, and the "identical" one next door for 700k "because it has a nicer kitchen". There must be a reason for the 400:700 difference, but hey it can't be the better kitchen.

You do need to consider the wheels as that could account for a chunk of the difference.
In the UK Cannondale has more 'prestige' than Cube.

Look at my earlier response. You need to research the frames.
Not all frames are made using the same method.
If they are made using the same method then you are paying for the paint and brand.

Where thry sre made also plays a factor, or a Factor if that's what you're looking at.

    Import taxes
    Supply chain
    Scale of manufacture
What the brand thinks they can sell for or what price point they want to hit

Do you ask the same about cars? MINI/BMW use the same 1.6 engines made by the Peugeot/Citroen group PSA. Lexus Vs Toyota, Acura Vs Honda - same body shell and running gear, but a different frock. VAG group cars?
  • Cube ate generally good value, one of the few that competes with Canyon and Boardman for prices. I suspect other pricier makes just have a bigger mark up per bike.

Cannondale definitely has more cachet than Cube - whether merited or not I've no idea.
