Focus Izalco internal cabling help required

Hi all. I've not posted here for years as unfortunately I don't get on with road riding, instead choosing to bounce up and down hills off road :)

However I'm the go to person for bike builds and repairs for friends and family. This one has me stumped and I'm wondering if anybody can assist.

Replacing from gear cable on a Focus Izalco. It has internal cabling and seems to have internal channels for the 3mm OD plastic guide to run through.

I took it off in a bit of a rush and made somewhat of a schoolboy error by not looking close enough at how the cable goes round the bottom bracket and up through the frame onto the mech (bottom pull)

The frame has an exit point for the cable at the bottom of the down tube, a machined channel to take a cable round the bracket and then a straight hole up to the front mech cable mount.

The 3mm plastic sleeve fits inside the channel nicely and up into the tube that goes vertically towards the mech but, is this good enough to prevent wear through said tube and into the frame as the bike is used.

The plastic guide tube was damaged, kinked and not very straight when I took it out, but it also had a metal guide around it when I took it out.

Silly me can not remember or figure out where this guide goes. It looks like it is machined on one side but it isn't wide enough to locate a cable outer in.

I can take more pics of the bottom bracket area if needed but thought I'd ask if anybody has seen this before and can tell me where this metal bushing / guide goes.

Shown with a cable outer for scale.

Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

Is it not the metal grommet that finishes off the drain hole underneath the BB at the bottom of the seatpost?

Thanks. That does look rather like the same thing although maybe a bit larger diameter and the inner section of the bit I had was angled. I haven't got the bike any more as I was doing it for a friend who now has it back.

In the end I came away from it for a day whilst I waited for some new liner cable. After applying a degree of logic to how I found the only place it could have come from is the front of the bike where the cable goes into the frame.

I originally pulled the liner out of the front and this piece came out over the liner about 3/4 down its length. As it can't fit down into the frame entry, it must have been before it at the top of the line and was just dislodged as the damaged bit of liner then pulled it out.

The metal piece looks to be a guide / holder for the liner at the top front of the frame. It is chamfered, and the liner flared a little, so I guess it simply holds the liner in place as the outer cable effectively pressed it into place.

This is how I reassembled it and all worked well :)
