Ok, let's have the salient point then of what he's done wrong?

Said he would buy something and then claimed his fingers were crossed the whole time.
Didn't the big wigs at Twitter claim 5% of their users were fake? This needs clarification as it's directly connected to revenue via advertising (misrepresentation).

A discount seems fair if this is the case.

His only get out of jail free card is to prove it has a material adverse effect on the pricing. Lawyers can argue about that for a long time, but I doubt he will win. If he wins, he gets out of jail, but he doesn't get a discount to buy again.

It's fundamental to the business model, though.

His Twitter bid succeeded. On April 25, Twitter and Musk issued a joint press release announcing that he had agreed to buy Twitter for $54.20 per share. The press release included a quote from Musk promising to “make Twitter better” by, among other things, “defeating the spam bots.” He was really mad at the spam bots! He wanted to buy Twitter because of the spam bots.

Yesterday he announced that he does not want to buy Twitter because of the spam bots:

Goodness knows why you stan the ridiculous manchild so much. He's made an unsubstantiated claim that the 5% estimate is materially inaccurate but can't back it up, so has just made some hand-wavy claims to try to cover the fact that his wheeze hasn't worked. It's embarrassing to watch.

If Twitter didn't have any real users and had hid this fact from the world, then he would win an MAE argument, but it does have users including Musk. He signed a deal with what is known as an MAE qualifier and his lawyers would have been advised just how difficult it is to win an MAE argument. So the options available are as follows: (i) he is so arrogant he ignored his lawyers advice (ii) he didn't understand his lawyers advice and failed to seek clarity (iii) he is trying it on, because the deal doesn't look as good any more.

Because he had the guts to do not one but two completely insane things. Build a bloody ROCKET and successfully take people into space. Also, take on the CAR industry and actually survive. Three bloody years he slept on the floor trying to get the model three's production right.

Come on, why are you all so agnostic towards a big innovator? How the hell do you think we are able to do what we are doing right now?

    People like Musk.

Mate, we've been building rockets since the 1950s. That just requires money, not guts. He has successfully produced a luxury car, which has some useful innovations. Frankly, the innovation per dollar spent is somewhat underwhelming.

How much do you think Tim Berners-Lee spent?

There’s an economist podcast looking at EVs which may be of interest to you.

Highlights the challenges of achieving the switch.

Big challenge is the batteries. Nickel, lithium and cobalt all have their own problems, some of which are to do with refining to make to useable in battery manufacturing. It can be highly energy inefficient which defeats the point and China has a near monopoly on refining those metals, so there are geopolitical risks too.

You should listen - it’s more nuanced and detailed than all that.

Na-ion (sodium) batteries look interesting. It sound's like they aren't up to lithium levels in term of mAh capacity yet though.
