As an aside, wtaf is this? Slow news day or trying to make going for a ride complicated/serious?

First BBQ of the year last night so todays bottom burps are interesting to say the least.
Hopefully a quick run after work followed by some bathroom building.

I have very different relationships with road riding and MTB. My road riding is very much focussed around my year round commute and riding quickly. Solo rides where you have far more focus and rhythm. Basically all about a proper workout I suppose.

MTB is the 'fun' one. Much more of a social activity that I view far more as a hobby in the traditional sense, compared to road riding. Love this time of year when we get to make the most of the evening daylight after work. I don't really get the time at weekends for MTB due to family and other life admin, so the clocks changing in March is always the signal of the start of the MTB season for me. Makes me happy.

Understand completely. I've been trying to explain this to some of the roadie grumps for a while :)

On that note, had a half decent pedal into the office today to enjoy my new found freedom and escape random jobs from the trouble 'n' strife. Good to see a few people in here instead of sitting in my box on 'Teams' calls. Coffee now supped; a good portion of Shepherds pie awaits.

Easiest way of explaining the difference is that you'll always get a hello from another mountain biker; the same definitely can't be said for roadies.

Glorious day. Walked dog, watched builder bloke work for a while, packed up some bike stuff I'd sold, nipped up to post office to send it, and stopped for lunch in sunshine on the way home.

    Afternoon of bludge followed.

    More of the same tomorrow.

BT failed to turn up again to install fibre broadband.

FFS. Tried calling the install team 3 times and keep getting cut off. It's sodding ridiculous.

So looks like I have to accept the job offer. Current place can only extend until Sept, and for any permanent roles, the banding is so low and they can't afford to pay me in a manner to which (the wife) have become accustomed.

Went out for a ride this morning, one of my favourite roads has become a rat run despite being access only. The local knuckledraggers think that mean 'access to a place 5 miles past the signs' rather than access to premises between the signs. I shall write another email to the local council.

When i got home, Mrs Slog fancied going for a picnic, so we chucked a few bits in a bag and headed off for the nearby river, where i have a fishing ticket and a gate key.

About 300 metres away, there was a sand bar exposed and on that sandbar, also exposed was a young lady. She was with a clothed female friend, but she was COMPLETELY in the nip! We were there for a couple of hours and just before we left she stood up and started using a set of pois. I know you'll think I'm making this up, but that's your choice. :)

    POIDH 😉

Work day worked, bit of sun bit of cloud so not too hot, for March, for working in. Easter weekend starts here. Prob with a couple of beers and an early night.

You kidding right? Vets in private practice don't get paid much, work silly, inconvenient hours and are treated like shoite. Only way to make money is to own the practice. They get away with it because it's a vocation and there's an endless churn of new vets coming in.

My wife works for a charity, so less money, but better hours.

My wife is also a vet and owns her own practise and can assure you it's not range rovers and gold plated taps.

Yes, like that would be appropriate! Certain forum members would have apoplexy!

As it happened, I did have a camera, but it never occurred to me to use it! The same cannot be said for the binoculars however.

A set of what? Is that a piece of fishing equipment?

Oi, get in the queue pal.

Now, what could be wrong with a group of blokes, in masks, standing there just looking out to...?
