Morning, much huff outside which seems to be dying down finally No errant wheelie bins here local council still hold onto the belief bin bags are best.
Much prep occuring for shenanigans abroad, I say prep their all out there just making sure it all behaves our end really
Please no mention of shutters OH keeps wafting the idea of half window plantation ones in the front of the house.
Anyway booked some time off for the fun task of re fencing the back of the garden, got to re do about twelve meters of featherboard which is various states of rotting out so that will be a fun way to spent a few days, tricky part will be I'm doing it alone an have to keep the border secure each night as it backs onto a wood. lots of faff.
Yeah, we're having had shutters in the living room and full shutters in the two bedrooms upstairs at the front.0 -
Rode into work today, was interesting. Usual stuff - all headwind and sidewind but no bloody tailwind. Sidewinds had me changing lanes without meaning to a couple of times - lucky no buses or cars nearby. Some of the headwind gusts almost stopped me in my tracks. I was uber slow.oxoman said:Morning all. Off shift and escorting OH to the eye clinic again. Definitely wont be riding today with the wind. Not sure if someone has reincarnated on here and posting loads of repeat stuff about riders and speed.
Been to dentist, final round of implant work done and my wallet is in pain now. Better have some lunch to take my mind off it..."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -

Yeah fencing wise its a pain, I'm doing the stuff from scratch due to the incline so arris rails then attach featherboard to them. Its not super hard, land wise cant really grab much as theres a path other side of the fence, though I've agreed with greensand trust I can move it forward enough so I can get the fencing in securely. I would do hit an miss but were advised to run solid fence, wind isnt really an issue it backs onto a path an then forest.
Also dogs not overly well so she wont be let loose on the rotten posts, though she likely will want to drag one round. Be a fun sight, 2.1M post and a dog thats all of about 14" high dragging the post about.0 -
Came across a labrador type dog last weekend carrying a decent sized branch that must have been 3 m across and looked pretty heavy. Unfortunately that was about the same width as the path we and a few others were on, so resulted in quite a few people scattering into the leaves & undergrowth like a slow-mo version of the Blues Brothers where they run those Illinois nazis off the bridgestep83 said:Yeah fencing wise its a pain, I'm doing the stuff from scratch due to the incline so arris rails then attach featherboard to them. At least we did it in two chunks. Downstairs first, then the two upstairs front bedrooms. We also.got the same people to do remote controlled electric blinds for the bifolds at the back. As we are sw facing there, I wanted something thermally resistant materialwise, but by god that was expensive. I settled for just shade in the end.elbowloh said:step83 said:Morning, much huff outside which seems to be dying down finally No errant wheelie bins here local council still hold onto the belief bin bags are best.

Lovely company, have sorted out snags very quickly.0 -
In other news. Our cleaners returned today. Kids back at school, Mrs H³ in her hutch, me working in the uncleaned room of shame. Obviously it will be a shytepit in about 4 minutes, but I won't have to spend hours each weekend cleaning.
In further news. I probably would. I bet it would be absolutely mind-blowing. All that bleach and rubbing action.
Otherwise work shyte. My own pension shyte/planning. Getting a will done for the 2 of us. Persuading Mrs H³ to save for the future. Yes, I know her mother owns a 3 bed house in a rapidly gentrifying bit of East London, but I also know she will live to 114 just to spite her daughter.0 -
As someone who has worked on civils and construction, I hate even the concept of "snags".hopkinb said:

Companies actually plan for a snagging period and put things off to be completed at that time, rather than planning to complete first time, on time.0 -
Living room 3/4 shutters

I quite liked the proposal from Swatch I think it was back in the 90s that instead of 24 hours in a day, it would be 1000 units, and the whole world ran on the same “zone”, so if you said meeting at 350 for example, there was no adjusting for +/- zone.sungod said:
it's been tried, didn't catch on though...Ben6899 said:Some bloke in Road General reckons there are 100seconds in a minute.
Would have solved a few system issues we had at the time with a non-time zone managed ERP package.

Evening folks,
Day in the orifice was had, drove in as I didn't fancy battling the wind as I've become even more of a jessie. Had to take some supplies to beautiful assistant which is always a bonus, she's very easy on the eye but frequently reminds me she's half my age 🙄
No shutters in our place 'cos I'm tight.
Might go looking for this 100 second minute thing, sounds amusing. Talking of which did Charles ever get his stiffy figures?0 -
Did you find it, 'cos I didn't.veronese68 said:

Yeah this, they see something an get obsessed with it. Front currently we have wood blinks proper chunky things, but no we need half shutters, I kind of get why we get walkers etc go past the front of the house an the "front garden" is non existent.elbowloh said:

Admittedly these shutter things are, I believe, also pretty good for holding property values .....

Oh I did look at that thread but like you, I got half way through the first post and nodded off, looked on another thread. So I have to keep going? Sh1t.veronese68 said:

Now we have them, I do like them. We're on quite a main road, so during the day we can get natural light with no gawkers, they are easy to clean, nice and neat lines.

Only drawback is price. Especially if you don't have a bar down the middle. Sanderson exist to sell finance contacts. Happy to let you know who did ours. I think he is Berkshire based, but obviously travels.0

Definitely Christmas cactus and fern. I wanted a crack ho, but Mrs H³ insisted on the downgrade.seanoconn said:
