I put that Giro ride down to him being settled at Ineos so was surprised when talk started about him moving. It felt a good match, that Giro version of Dennis is too good to let go and being on a team where you can be allowed to pick up a presumably good salary in that sort of support role would seem ideal for Dennis. He cost me PTP points this season though, he has been like a different rider.

Same here with the surprise. There were a lot of comments at the time of the 20 Giro, from inside Ineos as well, about the difference being in a settled team had made.

    He really isn't that good.

He's a two time world champ.

    TT.

That Giro will be seen as a bit of an aberration in terms of the quality of the top riders in it (this feels meaner than intended)

Sure, but it means he's a fucking strong cyclist.

Ganna looked like a pretty good choice as a domestique in the Giro this year.

The earlier post though that days his best could podium in the Tour...I don't buy that his best is a mid-teen finish in the Giro.

Maybe if the entire Tour comprised 21 time trials he'd make the podium.

At his very best I think he could have limited his losses this Tour in the mountains compared to Carapaz and put around 2 - 2.5 minutes into him in the TT's. Would have placed him 3rd.
I see him slightly worse to, but comparable to Dumoulin, who has won a GT and podiumed at the Tour twice.
