Imposter- If you are many miles from home and are questioned by the police, you'll have to explain that you don't understand the law or just tell them it's only guidance and cycle on your merry way. They may take pity but I doubt it.

You need to stop calling it 'the law' mate, because it isn't. When the restrictions are lifted, you can expect a raft of challenges to imposed fines, using human rights legislation as a defence.

Meanwhile, if anyone is stopped, they can simply use the 'rule of thumb' phrase as a disclaimer. "Well officer, as a rule of thumb, I normally only ride within 10 metres of my front door. But today, I went further." Seems to me that's perfectly acceptable. 'Rule of thumb' implies there can be exceptions and that the imposition of the guidelines need not be consistent. You'd be better off directing your ire at the Welsh Government, not me.

Incidentally, I've lost count of the number of police vehicles that have passed me - either in my direction or going the opposite way - including traffic cars, in the last few weeks when I've been out on rides. Not one, not - a - single - one, has even looked in my direction, let alone tried to pull me over.

    1. It is not a law.
    2. "The idea behind" is simply an interpretation, of which there are many.
    3. Supply a link to an official document to back up statements. Those that have only prove how vague the guidance is.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.
