Routes around Lofthouse Yorkshire

Am travelling up to Yorkshire for the Worlds and will be staying in Lofthouse. I would like to get some riding in around watching the events. Any advice on routes from this location either as loops or to good viewing points on the course. More climbing the better.

Which Lofthouse? There are two, one between Leeds and Wakefield and one at the top of Nidderdale.0

If it's the former, I can help out.
(probably with the latter as well, tbh)Ben

That would be great. Around 60 would be great for a longer day. Maybe a couple of 30s we could do in the morning before watching the racing. My riding mate and I still undecided as to whether it would be best to watch the race go past as part of another ride, or whether to ride in morning and join the masses on the finishing circuit in Harrogate. We're there Fri-Monday so want to catch the mens and womens race.0

I'll knock something up. As far as watching the racing, personally I'd go to Pot Bank without the bike.Ben

Here is a route I knocked up a while ago.

My ride started and ended in Ripley but since it goes through Lofthouse you can adapt to suit.0 -

Here are a couple of routes. Disclaimer - I don't know every single road, but am reasonably familiar with the area in general.

I've tried to piece together roads that I know from basing myself in Hawes - or from routes others have created that I've ridden - and connected them to Lofthouse. The longer ride takes you through Kettlewell and up Halton Gill and alongside Pen-y-Ghent before returning through Malham.
The shorter ride is steadier, but you have to climb out of Lofthouse.Ben

Lofthouse is a bit of a dead-end tbh. Starting out heading north over Trapping hill you can then loop anti-clockwise and return via Pateley Bridge - make the loop bigger or smaller to adjust the mileage to suit. This could work either clockwise or anti-clockwise. Or loop west after passing Leighton reservoir and go via Coverdale, Kettlewell, Grassington.
Apart from this many routes can be accessed heading South down the dale.FFS! Harden up and grow a pair0 -
Thanks will have a good look.0

Hello everyone, thank you for this very detailed information. I do not know you but since my arrival here, the comments are not lacking, it is expected that this forum is very very active ! Thank you for your feedback Good luck. Sincerely0 -
Please also consider getting a map and working out your own route.A bit old fashioned but far more exciting and fulfilling than following someone else's Strava course.0
