Hi everyone.

I have a 10 speed Tiagra 4700 setup. Thinking of getting the latest 105 R7000 shifters and was wondering if anyone had any experience of using these with the 4700 chainset and/or front derailleur?

I realise I'll need a new cassette, rear derailleur and chain but was hoping to keep the chainset as it's pretty new. Happy to purchase a new front derailleur if needs be.

I checked the shimano technical specs and the 4700 crank seems almost identical to the 5800, which is compatible with the newer R7000 stuff.. But any experiences or advice anyone can share would be appreciated.

Thanks

  • Well I've seen a few new bikes with FSA chainsets and read a post saying the internal width of chains are the same soo.. guessing it doesn't matter. Thanks!

As long as its all 10 speed shimano should be compatible. I have a bike that had full 105 group and i changed from standard 105 chainset to tiagra compact chainset. All works fine.
