Vietnam. Ho Chi Minh to Hanoi route planning. Help needed.

Hi there,

Currently in Thailand and about to embark on the next leg of my cycling tour with my girlfriend.

I’m lookin for someone that has cycled this route and could offer any advice planning it?

I’m looking for advice on the safest (possibly flattest) way to travel the country. I’m hearing really mixed messages when it comes to Highway 1 some saying it’s beautiful and others saying it’s complete hell.

Also slightly doubting the direction that we are doing it as most people tend to go north to south rather that south north.

Anyone who should shed any light on any of this stuff or share route maps would be massively appreciated.

I've ridden HCM to Hanoi on the inland highway on a tandem. It's hilly in parts but not too bad. Biggest issue was heat/humidity. We were getting on the road at 05:00 to avoid. PM me if you want more details.
