Wiggle Returns - Doodle

It seems Wiggle have stopped allowing customers to return items using Royal Mail which was always my preferred postal service. I opted for Doodle as it seemed the most convenient as I could drop the item at my local supermarket. I dropped the item and have been issued and email confirming I have dropped it off but then nothing! Its been four days and apparently its still at the supermarket. I used Doodle as it stated it was a three day return service. I called the supermarket who said sometimes it takes 7-10 days for Doodle to collect the items to return them to the retailers.

I know its a free service but come on Wiggle!

Are these timescales normal and has anyone else had a similar experience? I could do with a bit of reassurance as the item is quite valuable?

Next time, use Collect+ to return items, they seem pretty reliable.

Wiggle seem to still be offering this

...your return will probably happen, it's just a bit annoying for you... chin up, it's nearly Smus.

Oh, and never let them deliver using Yodel either, as Yodel are consistently completely sh1t at one particular thing, and unfortunately that thing is delivering parcels.

Since Wiggle started using Yodel myself I now only order things to arrive at CollectPlus locations too. It's pretty reliable, and the only reason for doing it is that it takes Wiggles sh1tty choice of courier out of the equation.

I have used Collect+ more than once. It is a doddle.

No it doesn't, Yodel are the delivery supplier to CollectPlus+.

I've noticed that choosing collect+ seems to speed up delivery too with my last couple of orders arriving after only a day or two compared to 3 or 4 for previous free delivery orders.

  • On an unrelated note, Wiggle are unable to raise return notes for anything over a year old.

Write it out on a bit of paper sonny and stick it in the envelope

I use Collect+ where possible now, that way I know where the item will be and my preferred location is closer than any RM sorting office. My last Wiggle order from their Northern Ireland branch was ordered Sunday lunchtime and at the Collect+ place Monday morning.
I nearly used Doddle for some Amazon returns but decided against it and went with RM as all I had to do was put the items in a jiffy beg etc, address label was printed at the sorting office. Luckily for me that is local too and one of only a few that offer that service.
I point blank refuse to use Yodel, I've came close to using them with PlanetX when my order has been too big but cutting back on an innertube usually means RM are given the job of delivery.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

    Doesn't matter.

Whichever courier CollectPlus contract it out to, that courier is delivering and collecting dozens of parcels to a commercial address on the high street with a bloody great sign over the top of it.

Sh1tty Yodel tricks such as saying they have ticketed your letter box when they have not done so at all, or claiming you weren't in when you were, these things don't really work for a shop that's easy to find and has clear opening hours. Also, you'll never get parcels left where they shouldn't be, left with neighbours you don't know etc.

The contract is also important to the Courier, and the driver wouldn't be able to get away with much. Hence CollectPlus seems to be a good way of doing things.

The small inconvenience of going to a shop to collect far outweighs having to cross all your fingers and toes about a Yodel delivery to your house and waiting in to find it doesn't arrive when they say it is going to.

...on a side note, Wiggle will have lost track how much business they lost when they switched to Yodel. A business that large is tweaking and changing so many factors all the time it will be impossible to attribute what to what. I know a fair amount of people who stopped using Wiggle when they switched to Yodel and still won't use them.

It would be interesting to know how much business Wiggle have lost due to using Yodel vs the savings made, but like I say, Wiggle won't even know. It will be too difficult to analyse for them now, too many changes all happening in parallel or since and likely impossible to correlate.

The logic of how CollectPlus works is too much of a jump for some people to make, they can imagine how they'll experience it, but there's a little bit of friction about trying it.

One thing is for sure. If Wiggle wanted to canvas a bit of opinion, they could come on here, so many potential customers sat here and I would bet that an incredible majority will have something to say about Yodel.

My Wiggle purchase is arriving by Royal Mail (later today). The previous one came by Hermes (which was
as disaster). Hermes didn't deliver during the timescale they texted me to say the would do. They uploaded
a photo to their website to say they had made the delivery. The photo bore no resemblance to the parcel
that was eventually delivered the following day. I did have to make phone calls and send emails to both
Wiggle and Hermes for the delivery driver's behaviour to be acknowledged.

Wiggle are a nightmare at the moment, I’m honestly not sure how they manage to stay in business. My last four orders have caused a problem of some kind.

A set of £1000 wheels ordered and delivered next day, but where and signed for by who I’ve no idea, this took well over a week to sort out.

A Gore jersey returned as they sent the wrong item, sent via Collect +, it never arrived back at Wiggle. This took Wiggle over two weeks to rectify.

Next order sent via the dreadful Hermes. I watched as the delivery driver drove past my house and literally through my parcel out of the van window, it landed in my front garden and the van never stopped.

The last one, my order for a pair of Adidas Ultra Boost trainers just left on my drive in the rain. The parcel must have spent much of the day on my drive, it was absolutely wet through when a picked it up and when I opened it, it had a pair of kids trainers inside.
    Again delivered by Hermes.

I spent more time of late chasing Wiggle orders and deliveries that have gone wrong. I won’t be spending with them again until they sort themselves out.
  • As to the OP's original question (rather than giving any old gripe about Wiggle's delivery services) I've only returned one item through Doodle and my experience was similar. The item sat in the store waiting for collection far longer than suggested. Ultmately it was returned and a refund sorted quickly.

You have the return email so at least you know it's in the system and their responsibility but it is cold comfort when you're waiting for your refund/replacement.

Hermes are by far the worst courier service out there. I'm banned from them because I got a refund for non-delivery of a package to Wiggle. If you don't know Wiggle's premises, its a huge building on a short stretch of dual carriageway with nothing else around. It has 24/7 security to receive packages. Hermes first reckoned they couldn't find it and then couldn't find anyone to receive the package so returned it to me. Joke of a company.
I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.
  • I used Doddle (or is it Doodle?) to return a set of wheels to Chain Reaction about a year ago, and had to use the local Asda store, and had the same experience. Took bl00dy ages!

Just had an update and it’s finally left the store!
I don’t like Collect plus really as whenever I use it they scan the item and ask me to put the parcel in an open insecure box near the front door of the shop! I would be amazed if parcels didn’t get knicked from time to time.

    What about the Haribo though?
Do Wiggle chuck them in with every order these days or just the odd one here and there or none at all any more. We need to keep tabs on this!

I got some Haribo for the first time in ages last week with a KMC chain.
Also interesting that Sigma Sport have started putting little bags of Jelly Belly beans in with their parcels.

Never seen an option for Doodle, but I've used ToYou, which seems to be the same idea, ie drop off at a supermarket. Had a return dropped off the Saturday before last, and the tracking said it was on its way the same evening. Thing is though, I've still heard nothing from Wiggle that they have received it. Maybe I need to chase them up.

Speak of the devil. Just received an email acknowledging my return.
  • I’ve used Wiggle extensively but of late their prices are no longer the draw they once were...Sigma seem to be doing well on pricing and I always get the impression the set up there is one of bike enthusiasts running a decent shop, whereas Wiggle has become an Amazon style behemoth with people just working there in a warehouse environment.. I might be wrong but I have sent a few bits back to Sigma.. processed almost on arrival.. and no I don’t work for Sigma!!

Yes I get the same impression about sigma. And the big draw is you can pick the phone up ask a question and buy the right thing. The prices are on par with wiggle too.
  • Wiggle are utter idiots. Forced me to return a bike under their return guarantee so that I could reorder with the new Black Friday discount. I gave them several opportunities to refund the difference. They’ve lost a long term customer and I’ve ended up costing them money. Morons.
  • Chased up my faulty Wahoo Bolt sent to them a week ago, they replied with 'your return will take up to 14 days'

    Off my Christmas card list
I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles
  • have to say, I have never had trouble retuning items to wiggle or CR, and found their customer service very good. Any time I have chased up a return I have had fast replies and quick resolution. FTR I don't work or have shares in the company ;-)
