I race the SLR1, the blue machine and the first thing I did was to ditch those hideously heavy wheels. The rear wheel alone with cassette, disc, tyre and tube, would you believe weighted over 2.5kg.
A light set of wheels makes a massive difference to that bike. You can keep the originals as spares, or for training and then swap in some race wheels for Sunday's.
