Hi all, I'm after a cycle computer and am getting tired of looking now as there's so many to choose from so thought id ask the opinion of you guys as you have first hand experience with them so, is there a good sub £100 cycle computer with gps and maps or some form of route guidance available for my budget?

Edge 500 doesn't have maps but if you plot the route you get a breadcrumb trail to follow which is fine out in the country where it's obvious if you've gone wrong pretty quickly.0

You might also be lucky and get a Garmin Edge 800 for £100 or not a lot more. However, the 500 would be a good buy for a lot less. With either, if they are getting on a bit, the battery could be on it’s way out but it’s quite cheap and not too difficult a job to fit a new one.Cannondale Synapse Carbon Ultegra

I use a 500 but find it hopeless to follow a route. The breadcrumb trail often disappears from the screen leaving you wondering where you are or it doesn't regenerate quickly enough so you sail past a turning and the unit cheerfully chirps "off course"
Fine for recording rides though.Sometimes. Maybe. Possibly.

I was looking at getting a gps computer that can upload my rides to strava.
I'm currently using my Google pixel 2 with strava to record my rides but i find it's not as accurate at recording my average speed compared to fellow riders who are using cycling computers to do the same thing.
I'm not fussed about navigation. Any recommendations on the best value for money conputer that will do the job.0 -
Happy to sell my Garmin 800 with UK maps for £120 if you are interested. Two years old barely used and in a protective rubber case. Comes with the box. PM me if interested0

If you want cheap and cheerful and aren't worried about power or proper mapping (it has breadcrumb mapping which is enough to find your way) then a Garmin 200 does the job.[Castle Donington Ladies FC - going up in '22]0

I'm reading reviews or garmins m a lot of people having issues with their garmins being buggy and not working properly. Each model seems to have similar issues.
Is this the general feeling with Garmin cycling computers. The Lezyne super GPS seems to tick all the boxes so think I shall give that a try.0 -

No. It's easy to find bad reports of any product as the people who are happy aren't creating threads and blogs saying it works fine.
Garmin are the leading brand in cycle computers and have been for some time now. They make good stuff, especially the budget you're looking at.0 -

Thanks for input.
Two of my cycling friends have purchase the Garmin 520 and the 820 will see how they get on the next few rides.0
