I thought Cavendish was dropped a long way out but he comes in with the first group - in fact a lot of times look wrong
Has some rule been applied?0 -

Cavendish dropped off from the front group after the crashes started, I think - Quintana punctured at 3.4km, so not inconceivable that Cavendish dropped off within the last 3km. It was hard to keep track of who was where.0 -

Quintana seems to have lost 1m25s according to the results. That's a lot less than posts upthread.0

Re:quintanta
If he'd ridden on another 500m to within 3km to go before changing wheel, does he get same time as bunch or is it taken from distance where he actually punctured?0 -
He could have ridden with the group yes. But he can't stop, limp 500m and then claim the same time no
Apparently he destroyed the wheels by hitting a traffic island, his "spare bike" was in the group in front so keeping with the group was not an optionWe're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

He'd get the same time add the group.
Itv4 highlights suggested he went over a traffic island and bust both wheels. Neutral service did change both, but he was too busy feeling sorry for himself to get back on the bike and ride. Every year, for the rest of their lives, my twin boys will remember the first stage of the TDF as the anniversary of the day they learned to ride a bike.“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0

Can you teach VinosGhost next year?"Unfortunately these days a lot of people don’t understand the real quality of a bike" Ernesto Colnago0 -
Ooof expensive day.
Quintana not the team leader then is he?
I still think Movistar's tactic is 'throw enough GC contenders down the road, see which one has survived the first nine stages'.0 -
It was nice to see the French lads, realising on today’s stage, it was an endurance effort, and they adopted a “low cadence, High power” strategy *thanks Ned*..0
