So I bought this bike for £80 off of a friend who bought this a few years back as an ex display bike and hardly used it.

I have a 55 mile charity ride coming up in June that is 2/3 road & 1/3 gravel / off road & my Trek road bike is not going near that. So I was on the look out for something suitable for the job.

Anyway here the bike was on collection (I am 6"7') so excuse the seating position thats my natural go to for road bikes ha.

Got the bike home and cleaned it up quickly and started looking for some parts to waste money on. First things first was new tyres and tubes. It came on some flat Continental Mountain King 2.2's but as I was going to use it for road & gravel I swapped them out for some Continental Double Fighter 1.9's & matching tubes.

Also popped to Specialized Concept Store in Chelmsford and picked up a few bits.

    - Specialized Avatar Comp Gel Saddle (Black)
    - Specialized Locking Grips (Black)
    - Specialized Bottle Cages (Black with green accent)

Ordering a Black Jagwire gear cable kit today and then it can have all the new bits fitted and a service. Oh and remove the reflector off of the front wheel and chain guard off of the rear wheel.

I want to change from flat pedals to clips & I think I want to get rid of this triple gear crank set up, but needs to be useful on road use and gravel. Any ideas please?

Can’t fault that for 80 quid.
If it hasn’t been used for a while I’d recommend bleeding the brakes.

(The brakes aren’t Juicy 3 though. They are Elixir 1.)

Good spot will upgrade that now, brakes are also being checked.

    Thanks

Be careful with how high you have that seatpost, its hard to tell from the picture but it looks like the seatpost is out further than the minimum insertion line, riding it like that puts you at risk of damaging the frame and the seatpost. Other than that this is a sweet buy for £80

Gonan try get out today for a few miles and see how I get on, it is so different to a road bike, think I need to stiffen the front suspension a tad.

Will get the photo when I take the bike out.
