Bryton GPS devices & Macbooks

Anyone else use a Bryton device and a Macbook? I've recently upgraded my laptop to a new Macbook Pro, which is great but it only has 2 USB-C ports. Apple very kindly sold me an adaptor to connect old USB devices, which have all been fine until I tried to plug in my Bryton 40... the Bryton Bridge app doesn't recognise the device when it's plugged in so I can't get any data off it.
I can't get an answer from Bryton support so I'm wondering if anyone here has any suggestions? The Bryton still works with my old Macbook but that's on its last legs, so it's not a permanent solution. Anything else I can do? I am loathe to buy a Garmin (assuming they have no problems with USB-C) just because of this.

A) Don't buy Apple.
In all honesty I'd consider both. Your life will be much easier and less expensive.
Thanks, that's so helpful.
I will ask my 11 year old lad when he comes home for advice too.
