UK trails for weekend break
Hi all,
There is a group of us who tend to try and do a few weekends away further a field from our usual trails. So far this year we've done Forest of Dean and Cannock Chase. Both very enjoyable. We are looking at organising another one and wondered if there was any recommendations... Most of us are capable one Red/Black runs. Not particularly interested in downhill bike parks.
Afan is looking like an obvious choice, but I also wondered if there is more off the grid trails that we could just stay near and ride. We are pretty much London based and distance wise 2-4 hours driving is fine.
Thanks in advance.

Hope youdont mind my suggestion
Have you considered North Yorks (maybe on yr distance limit) , Theres a red single track route at Sutton Bank with Englands best views along the trail, nearby there are many natural trails with some forest tracks , moorland and testing climbs and natural descents.
Have a look at my site it has a map system to indicate some rides local to me , i also do some trail guide days if anyone wants a local knowledge boost straight into the good bits. My Cottage will take up to 4 guests and is geared up for cyclists.
I am between the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors and also within 1 hr drive of two really good Forestry MTB centers at Dalby and Hamsterley, these are great rides too with a good blend riding.

We had a great time in Eastridge Woods in Shropshire, found a nice weekend getaway. Stayed at a place in Snailbeach called Woodhaven, we found it on AirBnB and the trails were out the back door. Eastridge woods info here:

Afan is pretty good. Went last year for a weekend with 9 of us and going back this year with 14.
Stayed here:

Access to all of the trails, B&B, food and drink all on site. Didn't have to drive anywhere all weekend.
They can also arrange guided rides for the less obvious stuff."Ride, crash, replace"0 -
We did decide to book afan in the end so heading there in a month or so. Went with this: https://afanforest.co.uk as there is only 6 of us.
Any recommendations of trails, we will be there Saturday and Sunday and are going to do FOD on the Friday on the way I believe.Cannondale Trail 27.5 | 2015

Some of the more poplular are Whites level and the Wall. Combine both into W2 for a longer epic with a pitstop halfway @ Glyncorrwg.
The Blade is also a good ride from Glyncorrwg."Ride, crash, replace"0
