    If you can still buy it Nick Kent's The Dark Stuff has an excellent chapter on Brian Wilson that covers the early days up to the first solo album.it's a really revealing portrait of the 'tortured genius'. Also the Don Was produced "I Just Wasn't Made For These Times" that showcases his ability to make Beach Boys music without the Beach Boys.
