Faulty Gatorskins??

Hi,
I got these gator skins from an on-line retailer this week. came to put them on saw both had like pot holes in them. Never seen anything like this in new tyres and assume they must be faulty. Getting a flint in there is going to be an issue.
What do you all think, send them back?

So, needing tyres quite badly I went to the local branch of the national retailer and bought the folding version of the same. They have a similar issue but the holes are not quite as big.
