Hi
Anyone rode one yet? If so thoughts please ? Ticks a lot of my boxes bar Hydraulic disc breaks.
Anyone know anywhere that will do an upgrade for me and just pay the differences between the stock breaks/levers and the hydro ones? Whilst I'm at it would it be worth, if possible to go to Ultegra? Or even 1x setup? (although 80% riding be on rds and I like the current gear ratio and range, I have on a compact with 11-28 on the rear IIRC but that's on 25mm tires) I like the idea of simpler setup/maintenance on 1x and although, I understand a bit that the 1x cassette has a wide range, I've not fully compared ratios between the compact 22 gears and the 1x 11, as still losing some gears.
I'm looking for a replacement to my old Trek 2.1 and having space /budget for just one do it all bike, I'm looking at gravel/adventure type bikes.
I need to carry pannier and bike trailer then possibly tagalong later on (as youngest is currently 3). Type of riding I do, is mainly short commute sub 10 mile each way (with kids in tow for first mile, drop off at nursery and into work) as well as family bike rides, so plenty off road paths etc around local parks etc.
I have starting riding a bit more myself on national cycle routes, (eg went from home in Leicester to Loughborough via great central way, 32 miler round trip) So looking for an all rounder as well as all year round, come rain or snow so want to be able to fit wider and stud tires (when snow/ice hits). As you can see, my bikes get a lot of varied use and suffer drops, knocks and bumps, so I've gone off the idea of going carbon frame and instead stick with a premium Ali frame but defiantly want hydraulics, rear rack and guards and at least 105 or possibly Ultergra or equivalent - not sure on sram double tap, single lever, just from a durability point of view, but I've not got first hand experience of using it. Budget is ideally no more than 2k. I don't have any suitable parts to transplant over as moving to disc break (not that current wheels are any good anyway)
Should I be looking at anything else other than the Diverge. I've looked at GT Grades (not sure re steel, again though no first hand experience and I know Aluminum works for me and my needs) PX Ribble etc but I still prefer plain black frames so again keep coming back to the 2018 E5 Comp and the fact it has the suspension and revised geometry usually I'd go for the older reduced models but this time its a different bike.
THanks
Andy
