Strength training for cycling

I know that this is a hot topic at the moment and after seeing GCN's video with Tinkoff-Saxo, something that I have been meaning to do for a while (when fit and racing again). Anyway, I saw this post on facebook and thought that I would share with others. Have others tried strength training and found it to be useful?

It's understandable as to why this question keeps coming up. Endless strength training stuff in the on-line cycling "press" and references like this on BBC's Chris Froome climbing articlePlaying poker on wheels
This is not just about strength. This is not just about your power output, or how many frivolous grams of bodyweight you managed to drop in the last few weeks before racing. There are games within games, sub-plots that could yet decide the greater story arc.ROAD < Scott Foil HMX Di2, Volagi Liscio Di2, Jamis Renegade Elite Di2, Cube Reaction Race > ROUGH0 -

I was thinking exactly that, just the other day. "Speak of the devil and he doth appear"0
