Ok here goes ...

Probably a bunch sprint after yesterday's win from the breakaway group, but the final few kms in the town centre might be tricky for a full gas full peloton to negotiate.

Dmitriy Kozontchuk and Giuseppe Fonzi are the two riders up front. No surprise to see a Wilier rider there since they missed yesterday's break. 110km to go, gap at 4 min.

The latest PTP opinion poll sees a huge swing of support away from Ewan to Gaviria - they are neck and neck now. But with a commanding lead the establishment candidate Greipel is still expected to win.

    Greipel 41.5%
    Gaviria 26.8%
    Ewan 26.8%

Fonzi (Wilier Triestina), Ponzi (CCC) and Kozonchuk (Gazprom) made the break of the day practically from the gun. Ponzi had a mechanical, which put him out of the break. Shame as it could have lit up the commentary until the peloton decides to go for it... Fonzi and Ponzi

104km to go, gap 4'23". Smart money on the break being reeled in and a sprint deciding it.

Rob Hatch should just read a book aloud. Maybe The Rider by Tim Krabbe. He could serialise it over several stages.

Fonzi is cool but Ponzi is a bit of a schemer.

Why didn't I know there was a rider called Fonzi? Combined with Jack Bauer, there's the stirrings of a specialist fantasy team there.

Jungels' bike looks very tasteful. As does his kit. The glasses might be a bit much though.
85km to go, gap creeping out again 3'51"

Lordy be! Still 47km to go. Gap 2'18"
I don't think I believe Rob Hayles suggesting that it will kick off in the final 40km

So, after this funeral procession, a technical, mostly downhill charge, a ninety degree bend at half a km, followed by a "blind" sprint?
Nice work RCS. Wait until the mountains and ITT are almost upon them, then put the GC boys in harm's way.

Nice sprint there. Ewan did well to hold that, thought he was gonna be nipped.

Ewan finally wins, but he needed a tight, criterium circuit to do it.
    Another 220kms long turd.

Nice one. Greipel's had a bit of a shit race so far despite his win.

When does the race actually begin?
