Hi,
My 14 year old son is looking to get into mountain biking and has asked for one for his birthday. Having looked at about 1000 bikes I'm really stuck on what to get him. Can I get some advice on whether the bike below is a good starter bike?

Thanks in advance

I'd get a Voodoo Bizango from Halfords, it's a better bike and better spec and cheaper. Now where's that "Get Out of Crash Free Card"0

Thanks for the comments so far.
I should have mentioned, I can get Saracen Mantra for £450...is this good value for money for a first bike?0 -
Isn't the standard answer at that price point the Trott bike from Halfords (if you can find stock). Superior in almost every way to the Mantra, especially ref the fork, though with only M available online check that the size fits. I *know* its supposed to be a women's bike, but just ignore that - its miles better.2015 Canyon Nerve AL 6.0 (son #1's)
2011 Specialized Hardrock Sport Disc (son #4s)
2013 Decathlon Triban 3 (red) (mine)
2019 Hoy Bonaly 26" Disc (son #2s)
2018 Voodoo Bizango (mine)
2018 Voodoo Maji (wife's)0 -
Get in quick, not a lot of Trotts left, and only medium. Unless you find on in store.I don't do smileys.

I'm a fan of the Mantra. Had 2 now and thinking of building up a carbon one to replace my FS and just found them extremely fun!0
