Hi
I'm new to mountain biking.
I looking for routes that are more cross country (i.e. in the mountains) rather than trail centres/forests which are relatively close to Manchester i.e. 1-2 hr drive
I don't mind the odd climb but definitely no busy roads (a57 snake pass) / steep descents.
So somewhere similar to rivington pike ( hill bit) would be ideal for me.

Crag/Lee Quarry? Rideable from Rochdale but I usually park a bit nearer.
http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=38 ... 7335&z=120 is the track over the hill to the quarries.0
