Hi All,

Has anyone got any good dartmoor loops they could perhaps send strava link to? I live on edge of the moor but not done much cycling on it, mainly commuting to totnes.

Ive got the classic routes so could make a hash of those, am curious about what paths are road bikable on 32 marathon supreme tyres? such as this small route: https://www.strava.com/routes/8044837 the paths around the forest near Laughter tor?

Ive done this one before: https://www.strava.com/routes/4895529 but looking for something in the 1-2 hr bracket? Happy to drive onto moor to start loop. Oh and would love to avoid the evil dartmeet climb/ bike pushing segment..
Any help appreciated.

I don't have any exact routes but many hours on Dartmoor. From Totnes I'd either go from Bovey Tracy and do Haytor and then across to Tavistock and back over again. Or try using Ashburton as a base and climb and descend from there exlporing as you go.

Have a look at http://veloviewer.com/100Climbs/Original/South-West and try to scoop up and Haytor and Rundlestone into the ride. You could also try one of the Dartmoor classic routes http://www.dartmoorclassic.co.uk/.

However IMHO some of the nicest routes in the South West are actually in Exmoor.

Did this last year, loved all of it. Widecombe, Dartmeet and Haytor are all classic climbs.

A decent 15 mile Dartmoor loop I've done few times:
Bovey - Haytor - first right after Haytor and descend to Bickington - Coldeast - A382 back to Bovey - and repeat.....

Not strictly on the moor, but a nice addition to any Dartmoor ride - the B3193 along the Teign valley is always a pleasure to ride.

As mentioned, Ashburtons a nice place to start and finish. Up and down Holne Chase, great riding!
Caveat - I buy and ride cheap, however, I reserve the right to advise on expensive kit that I have never actually used and possibly never will
