Hi,
I have recently brought a 2009 stumpy elite frame that came with no rear shock. I have a fox ctd 185x50 but understand the original shock was 184x44. Does anybody no if I will have any issues running a 5mm longer stroke? Or do I need to search out an original size one. Also does anyone no why width the bushes need to be.

Any information would be greatly received
Gordon

6mm stroke equates to an increase of about 13%. That's a lot of extra rear wheel travel and may lead to the rear tyre catching the frame.

    There are a few 184 x 44 (7.25" x 1.75") shocks for sale on eBay.

If you don't want to buy a new shock then you could ask Mojo if it is possible to reduce the travel of the Fox CTD shock you have by the addition of a spacer.

See this thread of mine from Late December.
I needed to replace my Fox Triad rear shock on my 2009 Stumpjumer FSR elite and had similar questions.
I ended up buying a 2016 Fox DPS performance shock from Germany as per the final posts.
