Love the B&W church with trees.

Thanks RJS.
I exposed for the brightest bits of the church to cast the shadows extra dark. The church is nestled amongst the trees, but from this angle looks overgrown. It isn’t really. This was taken from a field behind and the trees line the river.

Non blurry birds. Hundreds on the rocks and in flight. They seemed to be feeding (possibly sandeels). I hope they escape the bird flu outbreak.

Warp drive. Looks good!

Thanks. Quite like how static it makes the pavement and buildings look.

Tried with and without the fallen tree crossing the river. With added a bit more interest in the lower area.

Some contorted oaks on the clifftop. Very steep in places and too annoying to use a tripod, but some interesting tree shapes sculpted by the wind. Having the sea as a backdrop left the images with a blue tone behind the trees, so monochrome.
I’ll try again in that area before the brambles shoot up and with a bit more time/light.
These are beech.

A bit of lichen forest photography practice this morning... plenty of autofocus fails, but a few I quite like...

They look interesting- like a forest on a distant alien world.
Lichens (as I recall from a podcast) aren’t singular organisms but rather a collection of symbiotic ones (fungi and algae) that can endure significantly more extreme conditions than they would be able to as separate organisms. Interesting stuff, but can't recall much more...

Quite correct. Entangled Life is the book everyone should read. Lichens and fungi are just extraordinary.

Depth of field is the real challenge on such a small scale with my limited equipment and skills, and none of those is 'perfect', but it's fun seeing what forest effects (and others) are possible... TBH, I had little idea when I was taking them, I just tried to get at least part of the frame in focus, and cropped (or didn't) depending on how out of focus they were towards the edges of the frame.

Thought the top one worked really well

Thanks, yes, I liked the variation within it, but still slightly annoyed that one of the light green trumpety things middle left wasn't in focus, cos, well, trumpets.

I think you'd like my garden. We have lichen on every branch here. It is all very eggshell coloured at the moment.

Whelks and cockles. Now that's what those gulls were eating and not sandeels.

Back to the woods, where the weather was much better than expected.

I put a bit more editing effort with this and blended the water from 3 separate shots, so not exactly sure of the shutter speed, but I was taking them at around 1/15. Yeah, it was kinorrible here on the coast too and lucky to find some sunshine inland

From yesterday in the sunlight (of which there’s a distinct lack of again today).
Don’t normally try tree shots in sunlight, but the ivy on the nearest tree caught my eye. Wish those bluebells were in flower.

I like the mixture of seemingly clear/frozen (background cascade) to the more blurred foreground water. Worth the effort.
