Trail centres near Hadfield Hertfordshire

Anybody suggest an easy to get to Trail centre near Hadfield Welwyn Garden City Hertfordshire. My eldest is competing there next wkend and I'm looking for somewhere to ride nearby. Thought about Swinley or Hadleigh but both over an hour away so ideally looking for nearer, any suggestions.

    Alas, Hertfordshire is not brimming over with trail centres.
    The nearest place is probably Aston Hill Bike Park which Google Maps assures me is around 40 minutes drive from Hatfield.
    That doesn't mean there is nowhere closer to ride off-road. If you're not intent on technical thrills and just turning the pedals in pleasant surroundings will satisfy you, then a ride through the woods north of WGC and then along the Ayot Greenway to Wheathampstead (where there is a cafe popular with cyclists) is not bad.
    I recommend the Marmite crumpets.
